Do you have to pre-order to get into Closed or Open Beta?

I applied for beta just over a year ago.  I have heard of a few people who have been in closed beta.  I'm curious to know if you must pre-order the game to get into beta at all?  I saw the pre-order package on Mythic's website about getting a code along with the pre-order.

I have no intention of pre-ordering anything until I get to try it.

Somthing isn't adding up.

The 7th is the headstart for pre-orders right?

So a fileplanet subscriber can get a headstart as well and just subscribe their account when it goes live?

I think the 7th is the OB.  The head start is around 15th... I think.

I dont know about the fileplanet getting the head start.

Preorders (even the common ones) will get into OB and headstart.

No. This was a solution well suited for the American market, but less so Europe. With more diverse demographics, we have opted for a solution where we will be giving away 55 000 Open Beta keys through the EA Store and other community sites. This allow for a more focused approach, better suited the five-language market we operate in.
