Again, the burden of proof does not lie with the skeptics, but with the ones claming the improbable.
I couldn't agree more.
However I think you have the groups mixed up. The group claiming the improbable is the naysayers.
It is definitely more improbably that a group or people (or even just one person posing as many people) operates a forum where they promote a fictional game or a game that is never going to release. And they make announcements and updates knowing that it will never happen. That is what is improbable and that is why the burden of proof lies on you. And you can't prove a negative so we all just need to wait.
It is much more likely they are just a new indy developer that just doesn't have the time or the knowledge to deal with the MMO community in a marketing standpoint. this has nothing to do with thier skills of building a game.
I would say the most probable scenario is that it is a small indie company, promising too much realizing they can't do it, and now stalling for time while they try to get as much working as they can without losing the support, so claiming everything is still all right. You're right, saying that DF does not exist at all is not the most probable scenario, at least in my opinion.
But the less likely one is that DF will release with everything they promised, working as they promised and in the way they promised.
I can find a middle ground with you on this one for sure.
It is definitely a strong possibility, given the lack of communication, that the game is in a lackluster state. I have always tried to leave that open as an option when i post, that the amazingness of DF is just on paper.
Again we just have to wait and see what they bring to the table in this video and eventual open beta. Until then we can't prove anything, and so the arguing continues.
Agreed. Final proof will only come when and if the game launches or enters an open beta/playtesting phase. Until then, it's all speculation. And boy the speculation sure is keeping these boards alive. XD
But yes, we'll have to wait and see. IF there is the option to playtest this game as they promised, I'll certainly do so and see for myself what state the game really is in.
you have no idea what the Darkfall team is really doing... Niether do we.
Thanks for outlining the problem... for the last 7 years
Yea and I dont see it as a problem, I tend to believe a developer over someone that has no idea whats really going on. If Tasos is lieing, so what, I lost nothing waiting on Darkfall.
You may have lost nothing waiting on Darkfall Online. Believe it or not, there are 100s, if not thousands, of guilds out there that have put together a lot of work getting a guild ready for DFO. One of the reasons people put in the work they do is because of the words from the developers. When developers lie and ship crap, it makes it just that much harder for the good development companies to get future projects. Companies launching projects that were in the state there were in like Vanguard, AoC, and to a lesser extent PoTBS need to realize the damage they are doing to the MMORPG community as a whole.
If I sold you a hybrid for $25,000 and delivered a 2000 3 cylindar that gets 50 mpg, you'd report me to the better business bureau for bait and switch. Some of these MMORPG companies do the same type of b.s. and a lot of people accept it as the normally way of doing business. Blizzard and now Turbine with LOTRO have proven you can deliver a quality project. There is no excuse for the AoCs and Vanguards of the community any longer
Putting together a guild for Darkfall is preparing for something you think is the game for you.
Darkfall will be available for anyone to test out before you buy it.
I dont actually see a more fair way to treat youre players.
There is no preordering in Darkfall that cheat you out of your hard earned money.
My guild will have an opportunity to test the game fully before we make a choice of buying it.
Can you make an example from any other MMORPG developer so far that been as generous, honest and fair to their future subscribers then Darkfall developers?

And you are nothing but another delusional hater, whats your point?
What he said was 100% on the money, regardless if he is talking about Darkfall or not. Gamers bitch if the game releases unfinish and they bitch if a game takes forever to make. Make up your dam mind.
Another thing, why are we delusional? We are waiting on Darkfall, if it comes out great, if it does not come out what did we lose? None of you haters can answer that question.
What do I lose by waiting on Darkfall?
I agree. If DFO never release, I lose nothing. This is not lof DnL where they actually charged many of us and they provided just a hoax.
Aventurine (well, Tasos) said there will be a beta before release and the beta will be open to anyone (or at least that was what I understood).
If DFO never release, I will feel disappointed because I want to play a skilled based sandbox but that will be all. I wont feel scamed.
If DFO release and it´s not what I had been waiting (my major concern), I will feel the same (dissapointed).
As long as they dont charge money and then they showed a bad game, then I wont feel they just were making a Hoax.
If any investor is been scamed, it's the investor problems.
Imo, this game had been in dev since 2001, but that doesnt mean its vaporware or a bad game. It may be released and may be a gret game.
As I had been following this game since the start, I am burned already. And my faith in it is pretty low. I am holding until the end of the year because I think Aventurine (well, Tasos again) were quite explicit about the 2008. I know that there are high chances that he was just hyping again.
If they dont release, at least, a open public beta before this year ends, I will just stop following this game. Anyway, between DAoC and WAR, I will be quite busy hehe

It was a very good post from a well informed and intelligent follower of the game Darkfall.
As he said - 100% on the money.
