It gives new meaning to the crap that is turn-based combat. I joined the beta, because the story sounded really cool. I knew going in that it was turn-based, but didn't know your could make turn-based combat any crappier until I played this game. If I wanted to wait my turn to fight in a game, I'd play chess or checkers first, LOL! If I had to rate different areas of the game on a scale between 0 to 5. Zero being horrible and five be excellent, this is how it would go down.

Well at least thats my 2 cent, who know other people may like this kind of game.
When we get back from where we are going, we will return to where we were. I know people there!

I dont think the same.
The combat system is very strategic and it feels more intense than your regular point and click MMORPGs.
But I agree, the combat style tends to turn down a lot of kids and generally bad players, making Atlantica Online have the most mature communitty I have ever seen on a RPG.

i agree wid u turn-based in not for dumb who just want to click and farm..:P

Unlike most online games we actaly have to do something to win a battle... in this case we have to give combat commands ^_^
maby u like a difrent type of game.. well thats quite logic...
i do say tho.. something is curently wrong whit the game and website since i havent be able to login for hours on both the game and website

no need to stay here.
free you from the endles spell.
and find yourself well.
let the four winds blow again.
you make your story.
Well.. many players do not like this game because they have no idea how to play STRATEGIC game. I learned some strategies from Free League and YouTube. This is a game for thinking how to combat~~ not about SPAMMING skills or HIT-n-RUN or LAGGERS pwn u all like the other boring games.
* I posted the same reply on the other thread
i'd have to say that this game is well worth my time, playing this cost free is a huge surprise. this game has plenty of potential.
the combat system is what most complain about, if you dont like the style dont say the game sucks and leave it at that, explain yoru reasoning and it isnt "For you".
i would recommend this game, greatly enertaining and is personally a great style for me.

I found the combat system to be refreshing. But in the end, grinding is all you could do (Though less tedious because of the TBS).
OP, have a nice time in another mmorpg! Hope you find the one that fits you.
It seems that you played this game for so little that you can´t make a nice review, even if not talking good about it.
For me, its one of the most polished betas I´ve ever been into and having fun, I have a lvl 66 char.
The best of it,its its communitty ingame, I´ve found a lot of nice ppl.
The game teaches well in the new lvls and strategy is all about.
Greets
I'd like to ask the OP how long he actually played the game before coming up with his point system. Whenever I see posts like that I cant help but think ... hmm 12 yo grinder possibly macro kiddie pissed off about stamina cuz he cant go to sleep when mommy says and leave his comp in game to make him uber leet.

I like the game so far. People should really give this one a shot, it seems a nice mix of mmorpg and strategy rpg. I am level 40 and it didnt take too long to get there and my crafting is higher than I can actually use so I get a lot of money from selling my wares. The game is worth giving a good 2 to 3 weeks or more before basing a decision.
Final Fantasy was a turn based game and look how popular they were.. and still are.
Even if I'd never played this game before its clear the op is an ass.
The turn based system gives new meaning to MMORPG. I like how massive the game can be. I would definitely want to play Atlantica Online.

The turn based system of the game is really a major breakthrough in the mmorpg community, and I must say kudos to this game for giving gaming fans (like me ) another reason to love playing mmorpg. sure it's not suitable for kids who doesn't understand the concept of turn based systems, but the combat system is really cool I'm going to give it a 5 out of 5

So u knew it would be turn-based combat but yet u d prefer to play checkers... sigh*
Yet another youngster clickie clikie mmo fun..
Just so u know all real rpg's had turn based comba system ,more tactical and strategic combat mate
Well since it is my first opinion here you can judge me. I am really experienced player in Atlantica Online because i get 3 chars. lvl 100+. Ive played all classes and trust me its grind based game. Not worth playing unless you spend real money in it. Why? For example because high lvl equipment costs like 20~50m per piece and imagine you got 9 in total characters so you have to equip them all. There are two possible choise of doing it - use power up shop or grind like hell. Ive been playing since CB but still not worth it, thats the reason i left the game and sold my characters. Sorry for my poor english.
If I had to rate different areas of the game on a scale between 0 to 5. Zero being horrible and five be excellent, this is how it would go down.

I strongly disagree agree. This game is more complicated than chess, It's really a game for using your brain not for those who just want to click on monsters. I'm having a hard time deciding my line up because there are lots of possible combinations. During battle you could also switch your mercenaries making it even more complicated. As the topic starter says the game sucks, well it doesn't suck you just have to use your brain and join the free league.
I don't think the game sucks, been playing it ever since it got released. It seems your the only one here who doesnt like it.
Why should we care what the op says, according to these forums video games suck since you cna find a post bashing every single mmo/ most videao games in general.
I'm not a no life that sits in front of his computer all day long, I'm an intern that sits in front of his computer all day long.
Out of 5, here are my ratings....
Storyline: 2/5
The story is kind of boring and most of the quest lines are not captivating, though I could say this (and do) about most games. Most of the quest objectives are similar, and often enough do not adequately fit the context of the storyline. Additionally, the translation can be a bit peculiar at times.
Movement: 4.5/5
Highly recommend that future MMOs look at what Atlantica Online did with movement to make things easier for its players. However, I do have several minor frustrations with the movement at times, more notably.... sometimes auto-move takes some super-long way (not recognizing a portal) and moving to dungeon floors way deep in a dungeon can be a little time consuming and annoying running into monsters (of course there are teleportation licenses if it frustrates you enough) .
Graphics: 4/5
The graphics are definitely solid and the art direction has no major flaws. However, while fitting for the atmosphere, the art is not as immersive nor as styilized as it can be for MMO.
Sound: 3/5
Similarly, the sound design is more than adequate, but of course after playing for several hours I usually just listen to my own music. The voice acting is ..... let's just say.... rather interesting. :P
Combat and Gameplay: 3.5/5
It's better than most MMOs easily, and the game has a solid gameplay base. I just constantly wish for more creativity and variety in their mercenaries' and monsters' skills. PvP is decent, but can be improved. PvE at times, can be done with no strategy, but more often than not, paying attention pays dividends. Additionally, while a grind is present, it really is minimal compared to most MMOs.
Community: 3.5/5
Several unique features help boost the community in this game -- people are encouraged to help each other and share information through a variety of incentive systems. There are very few angry people moaning and bitching around and not a high level of bots. Still because of the low level of customization and lack of inspiration to roleplay (no super lush environments to explore, not much variety between players, distant quest NPCs, combat-centric gameplay), the community is not as strong as in some other MMOs.
Level of Engagement, During Play: 3.5/5
While the world environment, storyline, and atmosphere not very immersive, the combat, economy, community features (such as guilds), and other elements can be. Thus there's always something to do if you get bored for a short period of time. This allows the game to be both appealing to both hardcore and casual moods.
Level of Engagement, Long-Term: 4/5
With a level cap at 120, levelling not feeling tedious, crafting, future updates, many incentives along the way to reach level 100, as well as incentives past 100+, it becomes easy to plan for the future in Atlantica.... that is, if you get hooked initially.
Other ratings....
Polish: 2/5
Store/Item Mall, Business Perspective: 4/5
Store/Item Mall, Customer Perspective: 2/5
Potential: 4.5/5
Basically what we have is a very solid MMO.... that, while generic in many ways, has quite a large handful of unique features to keep any MMO player interested for a while. As nDoors adds more content, perhaps a lot of these ratings will rise Most MMORPGs (especially free ones) can not surpass these ratings due to the fact that they are vastly more unimaginative than this game.
Additionally, Atlantica IS a combat-centric MMORPG. The developers have done a fantastic job of fusing a variety of community-enhancing, accessibility-enhancing, and other-enhancing elements together to add additional layers of gameplay uncommonly seen in games, thus having little need to pay attention to the more MMORPG-industry-typical attention-grabbing "innovations" in audiovisual, story-based artistic uniqueness and immersion.
Even though there is much to criticize about this game, I never feel heavily discouraged by its shortcomings since they are outweighed heavily by the game's strengths and innovations. There's always something to do and at the moment, always something to look forward to.
I would not however call it a bad game, solely on the fact that I found little interest.
