First of all go easy on me I just cut my sub to AoC and am lookin for a new MMO to play and have not really kept up on what WAR is. I have been reading about WAR and even searched the threads for RvR and I can't find what it stands for. Guess my search fu is weak but any help would be great

RvR stands for Realm vrs Realm, and is a term originating from Mythics previous game, Dark Age of Camelot.
It is a system where a portion of the game is centered around 2 or more opposing sides being at odds with eachother. In DaoC it was 3 different sides. In WAR, it is 2 (Order and Destruction). Much of the game revolves around the conflict between these two sides.
Each side consists of different races, for example order is made up of the empire, elves, and dwarves. Destruction is made up of chaos, dark elves, and greenskins.
PvP is obviously a big component of RvR, but the difference is usually in scale. RvR is a server wide conflict, whereas PvP is usually smaller skirmishes. WAR is going for the epic battles where everyone on your realm contributes to the overall war effort, as opposed to a guild based system where only those in your guild are on your side.

should also add, while RVR is mainly PVP its not the only thing. RVr also includes PvE. ITs prty much anything that helps your side. And as said before, while WAr will have the skrimishes , but obviously the main thing is huge epic battles.
RvR means non instanced, large scale warfare between opposing factions.
Visit the following link and watch the videos to get a feel for what RvR is like. The videos also have good narration, as the guy explains wtf is going on while he's fighting.

Look at RvR as World War II. You have fighting on the front lines (PvP) both in huge battles and in smaller skirmishes, but they all count towards winning. Also, you have people at home in the factories producing tanks, bullets, helmets, sending food, etc. (PvE). They're not fighting directly, but they still contribute and are important. So, whatever you do, you'll help your Realm gain control (or, in the example, win the war).

haha glad you liked the vids. did you watch the one on the front page of the ironbreaker? They are wicked sick....... imagine using those knockback abilities to punch someone off a cliff or tower lol

haha i kno right! that would be sick! and those vids are all awesome, def a good reference to check out!i cant wait to get into more open rvr, its so dam exciting! haha
I have not played a WP yet, but I have never played a tank and had fun in any MMO until I played the Ironbreaker. They are just beasts plain and simple. They can take huge numbers of mobs if they are being healed and the more people bang on you the more grudges you build up that will allow you to unleash some crazy amounts of DPS. Even with a 2h weapon and no shield you can take on large numbers.
