World of Warcraft will slowly update graphics
If they keep oiling those cogs for any foreseeable future, WoW could actually be the only MMO left from the last generation model, that is if we live to see a true next gen wave.

Everquest is still going, and that never came close the the number of subscribers Blizzard have. So it will be around for a long time to come I really think.
The only thing I can see that could possibly hope to endanger that life of current MMORPGs is a next gen console that promises some kind of virtual reality that totally eclipses anything out atm. It's unlikely for a while, but possible someday.
Still waiting for your Holy Grail MMORPG? Interesting...
Not only far off, but even if they do make a "virtual reality" type game, it would probably take years to start actually making games for it because people would have to be retrained to make VR games.
Not to mention, once the release date for it has come and gone, it will still take a few more years to catch on, because it will probably be expensive, and people don't want to pay a lot of money for something, especially when they know they can wait and get it for a better price at a later date. Just look at BluRay. The only people buying that crap or rich bastards who don't know what to spend their money on.
Not to mention, not much would be made for it, unless they sold the designs to other companies. I would also think something like VR would be a training tool for the military or law enforcement before its a new type of gaming.
I think I might be off subject here.
Groovy.
Who knows what will happen when computing power reaches ability to simulate whole realties.
What I meant with next gen, I was thinking more in the lines of Spore or LittleBigPlanet, a persistent world with direction and setting but with freedom to interact with anything and everyone. That shouldn't be really far of, but it would be a radical change from the current model.
imho, WAR is going to kill off WoW. I HONESTLY believe that. Slam me in a year or two if this isn't the case, but i honestly believe WoW won't be able to survive the competition WAR is bringing to the MMORPG scene.
Once current WoW players wake up and smell the roses, and break out of their WoW addiction, they'll see that WAR really does rock and it's HELLA FUN. Then, they can shift their addiction to WAR
---------------------------
Will play: not WAR, HELLO KITTY ONLINE!!11one
Playing: EVE
Played: EQ (+all expansions too), Asheron''s Call 2, Anarchy Online, Planet Side, EQ2, WoW (+TBC), EVE
WAR will not kill of WoW.
The Matrix Online is still up and that's a massive failure.
Stop being silly.
Groovy.
WoW will be around for awhile that is a fact unless and act of God destroys all of WoW's employee's and servers and anything else along with it.
First.
We will not have to wait two years before "slamming".
Secondly.
A PvP based game with LESS PVP animation, pace and possibilities won't have a chance to survive the onslaught the PvP of WotLK will make. (read on....)
Thirdly.
WAR is not even up to Wow -----> WotLK is already miles ahead in about every aspect of what WAR has to offer.
You name it and WotLK does it better. from animation (active shadowin), to class balance, to open worrld PvP WITHOUT instances, to PVE raids, to PVE heroic dungeons, to achievements,
Just one hint: In the new achievements award systems: they included such nice things as "Killing Proudmore" or "Killing Thrall".
Hear any bells rining now ???
I think WoW, like most mmo out there, wont survive internet 2. The grid will change everything and they are saying we could have that in 10-15 years or so.
That's what I'm saying, for now, it looks like WoW could actualy be the only one that does survive.
Lol they can add WHAT EVER , unless the game is complety new and diferent i wont be playing it .
WoW will only die when it gets very very old .
Lets face it less successful games are still around.UO was made in 1997 and still around
Imo, i think Wow will be around for a very very long time.
