best rig for $1200-1300 or best 1$400-1500 with monitor included....

Bit of a stupid question mate.
A bit liek saying what is the best car i can get for $40000.
The answer is it depends.
Buy for that money assuming you can build your own pc (which id advise anyone to do becasue it will take you no time at all and its as easy as making a lego model designed for a seven year old) More you can hold back on what "looks good" in a hiny box in a store and get a custom built beast for the same or less cash the better - cos when your are mmoging its the power under the hood that matter not aesthetics. They are simple to improve later wit ha new case and a new monitor etc when you have more $.
A quad core intel processor set you back about $200
2 Gz shit hgot fast DDR ram will cost you $180
A shit hot radeon 4870 graphics car ddwill cost you about $300
A decent power supply will cost you $80
Unless your poc is ancient - reuse your existing hard drive and dvd rom rewriter etc
A decent motherboard wil lcost you around $150-$200
A ok looking perfectly good case (assuming you dont want to save and reuse your existing one) cost you about $40
Copy of XP $80
You can reuse existing keyboard and mouse or buy new ones for bugger all - or splash out on decent gaming ones and a gaming headset etc of your choice.
And off you go.
A screen - wel lit depends but they are not expensive anf you might want to run 2 monitors - keeping your old one but you can pick up a decent screen for anything from $80 -$400. You can get a decent 17-19 inct CRT monitor for peanuts especially if you buy seconfd hand.
Chances are a pc built by you liek this will beat the crap out of a shop bought special becasue it is designed around top quality components not the crap a lot of manufacturers use.
If you cantr build it yourself- you can pay a pc shop to build it for you and they prob charge you $80 i guess.
If you have more cash to spend stick in more ram and a better gfx card the - 4870X2 is pretty damn good but you are talking $700 for that alone !
Why XP not vista ? Well Vista uses a lot more resources and it is still being developed - youll regualrly be patching and chances are youll generally find it a pain the ass. A lot ot pay for a few prettier pictures and a load of functionality you dont use. XP is tried tested and stable. A vista upgrade will be easy once it has settled down.
