You don't have to recode the entire combat system to change the GCD variable from a 2 to a 1.5. Wtf, seriously.
No.
The global cooldown is just part of it. You certainly can change the GCD to anything you want easily, but that doesnt solve the problem. Combat itself is, as I said, slow, clunky, awkward. Tweaking the GCD gets you combat that is slightly faster, clunky and awkward.
If you can't be bothered to know what you're talking about (obviously you have not read or even heard of the epic discussions about the combat system prior to the beta shutdown, and after it came back up), its not worth having a conversation with you.
Epic, meaning the few people (that just haters) trying to say the same thing even though they don't know what they are talking about. Now there are some people that say it and realise there mistake but that is it. They are talking about global cooldown.

So you're saying the fact that I'm not familiar with a conversation that 90% of this forum's members have no possible way of having ever seen makes me not worth having a conversation with? Good luck with that attitude.
Frankly, describing a combat system as "clunky and awkward" is an opinion at best. While we encourage you to share that opinion, you're a fool if you think you can persuade us that you are "right."
Likely, i'll play Warhammer for the first month, then back off and give Mythic a chance to fix some of the game's glaring flaws right now. When the WoW expansion releases, I'll play that again (after an 8 month hiatus) just so I can say I played a Death Knight. Plus, I'll find some time for Lord of the Rings Online.
Age of Reckoning is a good game, but it's not the be-all and end-all some of you would like for it to be. It's not better than most other games, it's just different and new. Some of you need to accept this and stop trying to convince others that it's the 2nd Coming.

Although this is a joke thread...I did play the preview weekend and although it was fun for a lil bit, it got old to me fast, i think i'm just burnt out on the fantasy mmo, i'm still going to buy my CE but i'm not sure i will actually play it till later on. I just need something different, i really don't get off on pvp its just not that exciting killing other players -shrugs-...i'm hoping blizz's next mmo is Starcraft Galaxies or universe whatever they wanna call it lol.

I agree it s a good game and not the secong coming, but to be fair if you like pvp (RVR) this will be the second coming and a step up from DAOC to me anyways and that why i m buying the game Anything else is just a bonus.
I agree.. it's not so much that is completely innovative, it's just different. There are some new ideas, like PQ and the like, but people need to take it for what it is, a NEW mmorpg that has a PvP focus. I mean, if you think about it, WoW should have been a PvP game. From the get go. The problem is that they made it a PvE game because it's less frustrating and the failure penalties are VERY low.
A game with next to 0 penalties for PvP (Aka WoW's BG system) should be pretty effective. I like the classes, and if you don't want a class choice and play 1 class for melee dps, 1 class for ranged physical dps, 1 class for healing.. 3 classes that are 'sub par' at doing any of those things..
i played in the preview weekend and i will play in the open beta when it starts on the 7th just because i have a key. but really i probably will not buy WAR on launch. its a shame too because i have really been looking foward to this game. really though i thought the graphics would be a bit better. i mean they are not much better than WoW and it has been out for a long time. and u can talk about RvR all u want but what will happen is the server populations will be imbalanced to one side and they will end up winning all world pvp due to numbers and then it will all start going to the scenarios anyway which is what people complain about in WoW. and why is hte game so dark? i mean i know its a warzone and all but is that any reason to not put in a gamma setting? at night time it is impossible to do certain PQ's because it so dark u cant see anything at all. the game could turn out to be great but it still has a long way to go.
The graphics are set to the lowest possible setting due to all the debugging programs in the backround. They will be much more vamped when the games drops on the 18th.

The debugging programs will probably be gone when the game launches, but its probably best to reinstall the game to save a lot on harddrive, and make the install more defragmented I think.

So... because in your opinion, the battle system is clunky and - despite all the information provided otherwise - you insist it will continue to be clunky.... Anyone who disagrees with you doesn't know what they're talking about?
You believe that you have a better knowledge of what work needs to be done to the battle system... than Mark Jacobs and those actually working on it?
Have you hacked into their servers and stolen the code? Were you previously employed there? Did you work on any part of the code itself? If you didn't answer "Yes" to at least one of those, you have absolutely no grounds to assume you know what it would require.
Beyond that...
Your personal opinions about the game - any part of it - are not absolute, untouchable and bullet-proof. It's just your own opinion, and people are not obligated to agree with it. Get over yourself.
If you don't like the battle system, even after it's tweaked, you don't have to play the game. Not like you're being forced to play.

Heh... See... the problem is... It has color. Having color is, to some, pretty much all it takes to be a WoW clone.
"Look!! They use bright blue!! WoW used bright blue first!! They *so* ripped off WoW's graphics! There is no way to say otherwise!"
It reminds me of this dude I used to work with... Guy was the ultimate Beatles fanboy - at least that I ever met.
Any band that ever came along after the Beatles, to him, was ripping them off. All he had to hear was like.. 3 consecutive notes in a song that sounded remotely similar (to him) to something in a Beatles song.. and that was it. They totally ripped that riff from the Beatles. No if's and's or but's.
This guy's real name was "Frank", but he went by "John", wore small round glasses, grew his hair out long and straight and talked with a fake Liverpool accent... And he was born and raised in New York. How creepy is that?
I used to make fun of him a lot.
But anyway... yeah... a lot of the "WoW clone" comments remind me of that guy.
By the way... some very nice shots there. :-p

(4) Global Cooldown Timers –This seems to be a hot topic for players to talk about. However, things aren’t always as they seem.
- Reality and perception are two different things, Warhammer has a GCD of 1.4s, WoW has 1.5s
- “Ability not ready” messaging needs to be improve, a sound effect if Global Cooldown in effect, maybe more cowbell?
- Need to improve on the feeling of sluggishness of the GCD and UI. Bug with display where our timer shows 2s when it is really 1.4
- The next best thing to a queue is? We will add in better "slop timer" to allow players 0.3s extra to pre-queue a second ability followup.

@OP: "Why would anyone not leave WoW for War."
Answer: Because we do not want anyone from WoW come over to WAR and let them turn it into WoW 2 because of excessive whining.
Cheers
I came a little when I was in Preview Weekend.. the second coming will occur on the 7th
