No seriously - I dont count dancing and fixning old dungeons there were not ready in the first place a new content.   I tried to do the pyramid for like 3 hours before I gave up and asked to find out it was bugged.

The game was fun for a while, TBH.  New classes, new spells, and new content kept me entertained.  Honestly though, I never really felt the need to complain about anything others were so adamant about.  I played a few classes and never really felt like there was a "game killer" hidden in my talent tree or spell book.  That being said, the shield nerf was, well, very obnoxious, yet I adjusted my playstyle.  I think a lot of the anger may stem from some not wanting to adjust constantly, and they feel they should be able to play how they play from day 1 to the end of days.  Just look at the hate for SOE.  The game is very playable, and a lot more balanced in its current state.  What they did, however, is change the game, and that's what drove people away, and drove them to loathe SOE.  I didn't quit because of the catch all phrases that no one can seem to get very specific about, like "terrible PVP" or "bugs," I just got bored

I still find it hillarious how they broke the leveling in order to prevent people from finding out there was nothing at end game and to buy them more time to put something there.

I agree with the OP. Promises and more empty promises for AOC. And its really sad, I had some major high hopes for this game.

In 2 weeks, WAR launches and it will be the beginning of the end for Age of Conan as long as it lives up to what it promises (and I have no doubt it will). I hate to see it and I do hope that  AOC turns it around and does better. But even if they do, by the time WAR and WotLK come, I doubt there will be any players left to play. I am not trying to be a doomcaster here but seriously, I cannot see how the future is anything but bleak for AOC.

You do realize alot of people are not on the same bill cycle date, right? I can almost bet right now that me and you would have a different billing cycle. But then again I would still have to be playing the game to have one. Also want to point out that if Anarchy Online is still around, so will AoC be. I guess you forgot, a game cannot kill another game. The developers do this themselves.

you guys are all preaching to the choir, it seems.

    lol.

    have fun.

btw, the game is plenty fun :)

Maybe if all of us didn't use this as a freakin' excuse for shitty games then it would happen less often. An MMO is the same as any other game, it should be launched finished. Saying it's normal for MMOs shouldn't be an excuse and I hate it when people use this. This is why we're given broken promises.

Because we let companies make the broken promises and give them their own excuses.

Well its possible to make a MMO almost completly bugfree, however when you see a MMO that does not even fix stuff in months you get boggled . I dont care if the game lacks stuff, if the MMO company knows how to communicate and knows how to patch their game. Something that did not happen in AoC... 2 months to fix a freaking gem dupe? pvp still not in, bugs bugs bugs... and their focusing on riding skill costs just to fill the patch update page with something? Disaster game

I wouldn't call a catastrophic loss of customers a normal MMORPG launch. There is a reason people are leaving even the most die-hard fans are picking up their pride and realizing that this game is forever broken in the hands of Funcom. It is sad really, so much promise...

it wasnt a bad launch, it was the lack of content that got everyone angry. I dont know who expects NO Downtime in a MMORPG launch, i sure expected it. And they were also planned downtimes and not surprise shut downs for updates, you people overreact.

Nothing against you but I just dont understand how you can think that this game should still be in the stabalizing stage...?? Do you think the people that are complaining about a lack of content are stupid or what????

yeah i do have low standards for launchs, if you expect to much, most of the time your going to get disapointed .... like you ..... and all the other cryers and complainers who hate FC now. I played it and enjoyed it to lvl 50, then i stopped because the content did, i wasnt upset or furious. I had fun, and it was everything i did expect. What i really think, is that everybody is overreacting.

how do customers let companys break promises? We have no control over what they do, MMORPGs are NOT like regular PC games, maybe once you understand that, you wont be so angry all the time.

Hmm, being an ex-aoc player myself (sounds funny after only 3 months doesn't it?:)) I must say I can't understand where all that preaching and propaganda comes from... You hate the game? fine leave it, you like it? just go on playing . Why does everyone care so much about what otehrs do/think?? For my part, I really, really loved some parts of the game. True, there is not enough cpntent ther and I did feel somewhat conned after a while... so I quit. Now I'm waiting to play Warhammer and maybe the game will be good enough to keep me entertained for many months. But I AM planning to go back to AoC ... one day:) I really hope the game succeeds and FC finally gets back on the right track. I'm sure they're not all fools, they see what's happening and know what's causing it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for AOC.

Usually i can stick by a game through the bugs i am patient i have had to be with 11 years of MMO gaming but i tell yeah in all my days i have never....ever.... seen a game release with broken CORE mechanics like Stats, itemization and skills & to this degree, i cancelled obviously few weeks ago and all the poeple making excuses for this game i just feel sad for.  could undestand if it was company who actually gave a damn about you but alas they dont i actually feel little embarrassed for you.

What I expect out of a "finished" (as an MMO is never finished) MMO that is ready to be released is when it has it's core elements (y'know, end game, major selling points of the game like sieges, working classes, etc.). As if it's an MMO the game makers should be allowed to basically just take back everything they said would be in the game. It doesn't matter if it's an MMO or a car or a slip'n'slide. When you buy something, you expect to at least get what is at the core of what was promised. With AoC we got about half of a core and the rest of the core hasn't even been added yet (but it WILL be, they promise!!).

And yes, we have complete control over what they do (depends on which sense you mean, but in what we're speaking of, we certainly do). We are the consumer. Companies work for us just as much as we work for them. It's how business works.

Google and you'll find that Age of Conan was specifically coded to be able to include in-game advertising. Downtown Tortage outta look great covered in Billboards for Mountain Dew and new DVD releases.

Vanguard, Tabula Rasa, Anarchy Online (huh, who released that again), yeah, catastrophic loss of customers is pretty typical MMORPG launch.

Of course at least Vanguard and Tabula Rasa didn't generate anywhere near the failcom levels of FUD before launch.  We kind of knew they were screaming disasters by release day.

thei have added stuff...    some areas, like piramid or black castela  and  tresour of the ancientes..  was unfinished ( with placeholder quest, that was broken )  and thei fixed/added these stuff.  Most people say these added stuff is of high quality.

no that this will save you from boredoom, and some people will arguee that this is not adding but fixing, but funcom do added stuff after release. The Op is wrong.
