what are the incentives to PvP in darkfall?
in the vid i saw players sieging a ship, are they guna win that ship?
in WAR they have clear incentives that grease the PvP(RvR) gears & it works (worked for me during the PW).
Im not a troll i just wana know why does my guild wana siege another guilds city/ship? please elighten me
Comments
Yes they captured that ship, the incentives are player made, meaning that you can do what ever you want for what ever reason you want.
Your guild knows that your enemy is building up its force, siege their city and destory their ability to wage war... Want to be a pirate and rob other players on the high sea? Sweet, attack other players and steal their ship and cargo... Want to create a huge fleett? You name it, you do it.
Darkfall is going to be a true sandbox, everything is player driven, its not going to need "Developer" incentives.
That guild city is in a great location and your guild wants it, siege it and take it, that city is near important resourses, siege it and take it.
That ship is better then your ship, steal it if you can. Their are no limits, so your imagination will lead you.
FYI, I answered this question for you in the other 2 post you made.... lol

As has been said in other threads, incentives in a Sandbox are player-made. You have a longstanding rivalry with another guild, so you wage war against them.
They control better ressources, so you try to take that from them.
They have funny shaped ears and you just can't stand them...so you wage war on them. XD
Look to EVE. Player Controlled space is constantly changing, because factions fight against each other for control of territories, ressources...and of course, for glory.
Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?
Final Fantasy 7
ok, that does sound like good sandbox fun.
but those game mechanics are guna be very hard to implement.
either way ill give it a try because they are great concepts, whether they are transformed into fair & entertaining gameplay is yet to be seen, ill be there to see anyhow
I have been looking at darkfall for years but I have never posted a comment about it, I just watched the new vid and I think it looks like it could be a lot of fun.
I have played mmo's since 2 months in of eq1 and pretty much played them all since so I am not a noob. ok its not that good grahical but sheesh played loads of topend graphiclal games that are crap so that doesnt matter really. It just looks like loads to do and lots of mad fun, I for one am now looking forward to its (possible) release, I say this as before I get flamed for being a troll just look at Gods & Heroes, that was at release stage also but never made it so still no guaranteee's lets just hope
It's a full loot game.
If you kill someone you can strip them butt naked and take everything in their bags.
If you successfully seige a city it's yours forever or until someone takes it off you.
If you capture a ship it's your to sail away in.
Everything is player made so gear won't be quite as important as in other games such as wow so losing everything you have on you won't be "too" harsh.
1 more question.
if i spend my whole time building a ship (like 3 months prob more) then a uber guild can just steal it from me? i know EVE had an insurance mechanic, is darkfall guna have the same kind of mechanic?
so many queations i have like this that the darkfall devs should have answers for at this stage in development
I don't think there will be insurance.
Here you have the best feature list of the game so far.

You cant insure anything in Darkfall.
That is what is so great about Darkfall imo. If you risk your ship on the open sea, you could just lose it... but remember to sail a ship, it will take more then just one person... Each cannon has to have a person to fire it.... Watch the video again and you will see that.
Darkfall is bring back the risk vs reward. You are risking that ship by sailing it in the open seas but you could be rewarded by sinking other players ships or stealing them to make a huge fleet.
Yes it will suck when you lose your ship after working on it for so long but hey, thats life in open PvP.... Just remember everyone is going to lose something everyday.

thank you TdogSkal for answering my questions.
if the game delivers on what you say & plays 3/4 as good as it looks in the vid at launch ( preformance wise, i dont really care about graphics, all tho they look fine to me) then ill be there.
in the mean time im guna be deep in RvR in WAR, that shit is just plain fun

that is an impresive amount of info that guy has gathered
but it brings with it more questions.
it seems if a noob was to join 6 months after launch (with out the help of a guild) he would be crushed & robbed of usefull gear=not fun

Nah, Gear means nothing man..... At least that is the goal. Since everything is going to be made by crafting , 6 months after launch their should be a ton of items for noobs to buy.
A noob will have a good chance of killing a vet with the FPS combat system... No levels, Gear means little.
We will have to wait and see but they are planning on making gear not that important and without levels you will not have the new player having that much trouble getting up to speed.

like you say we'll have to wait & see
i hope they win, there ideas are VERY ambitious & i hope they pull it off.
But personally i think it is impossible for a big company with a big budget to pull off everything darkfall promises, let alone the small company they are, i.e. ambition over realistic goals
But hey, if they can deliver on the sandbox promises & deliver a game thats not TO buggy at launch then they are guna earn alot of respect & subscribers.
