Video card PCI x16 help

PsychoJon200PsychoJon200 Member UncommonPosts: 24

Well, i found this graphics card that i do believe is enough for what i intend to do and is pretty much good enough for my computer. The thing about it...is that i have no clue if my computer has PCI express x1 or x16 or what?

So is there a way to find out what i have or does it even matter?

Download 3DMark06 (http://www.futuremark.com/download/3dmark06/). The free basic edition has a pretty comprehensive system explorer option that will give you a detailed list of what you have in your PC. It will tell you what slots you have and what's in them now. A little more than what you need at this moment, but it'll help answer those types of questions for you in the future. Plus it's a lot easier to decipher than say the default system info device manager in Windows.

your pc wont have pci x1 as the main graphics slot  unless it is ancient or it has a AGP slot instead

Belarc advisor is a nify checking tool that tells you what your pcs specs are etc.

PCI-e  is the slot you would use for a graphics card if your board isnt an AGP board.
