Will 2 8800's 512 mb video cards in sli beat a stand alone 8800 GTS 640 mb?
I have on 640 mb gts in my system and a 8800 gt 512 in my wifes. I was wondering if it would be worth it to spend 100.00 for a another 512 gt and put the 2 in my system and go sli.
To buy another gts 640 is allite more than i want to spend., but for a 100.00$ I can get a 512 gts (g92) core, and just put my gts 640 in my wifes computer.

correct me if Im wrong but the 8800 gt beats the 640mb gts
and the difference between a new GTS and a GT is not that big
if it was me I wouldnt upgrade anything, I would save the money and buy a better card.
my question is would TWO 8800 gt 512 cards beat a 640 mg GTS? or does SLI work that way? will it be a performance increase?
yea they would as the Gt version is better than the Gts
Added: I would also agree with selling and buying a better card all to gether rather than sli 2 of those cards.... buy a scond hand 9800gt or something
one 8800 gt already beats a 8800 gts 640mb.
The 8800 GTS 640MB is kind of sucky as far as performance goes on newer cards. The 8800 GT 512MB is better by itself than the 8800 GTS 640MB.
For $20-50ish more you can take a big step up in performance and go with either the nvidia 8800 GTS 512, or the ati HD 4850 512MB. Those two cards outperform the 8800 GT 512MB by a decent amount, and blow away the 8800 GTS 640MB.

been messing around switching my 8800 gts 640 mb card with the 8800 GT 512 card in Vanguard and It seems im getting a fps decrease in vanguard by about 8-15 fps. Guess Ill just stick with the 640 mb card till I buy another 512 GT and run them in sli..
its about the best I can do right now.
1 8800GT destroys a 8800GTS(G80) so 2 would be far far better
