So when does it get horrible?

I'm currently at level 30 and having a great time.  Sure avatar combat really blows, I avoid it as much as I can, and the missions are incredibly repetative but all in all it has been pretty fun.  It helps a lot that I'm in the game with 5 other friends who are all local.  I can imagine the downsides being a crappy experience if you don't have anyone else to group with and venture into the PvP.

So at what point is it bad or is it just bad for solo players?  I don't necessarily mind an mmo that 'punishes' solo play.

After my experience wtih AoC I'm glad to have found this diamond in the rough.

I had a lot of fun all the way up to lvl 50 although I was in a group most of the time. The best fun is large sea battles (at least for me). Solo, you will probably have a hard time gettintg into the higher levels.

This game is horrible.  It certainly isn't worth a monthly fee.
