You know I travel a lot and play WoW from numerous locations on my Laptop and have never had an issue with that being mistaken for account sharing. If you were banned then there is a reason, if it was a mistake on their part then work with them and if it wasn't a mistake then suck it up.
Coming to this forum and looking for simpathy is a huge mistake, Most of the folks that come here and complain about how they were mistreated by a gaming company probably deserved whatever penalty they got.
It's a good thing you got banned. Just play War. War > WoW in every single way (except PvE raiding) anyway. I'm happy for you.
Oh go away, WAR fanbois are worse than HALO fanbois, get lost.
Both games are great, and both of you are trolls.
Now, account sharing can actually get you banned more often than not and so does spamming or harrassing other players.
My friend got a permanent account ban just because he insulted a player in AV and lots of people reported him. It seems Blizzard takes racism extremely seriously.
Bliizard take abuse seriously?? i'm sorry but i have to disagree with you there, i played the trial for 3 days before getting sick and tired of the global chat being spammed with abuse. One of those days someone else who i assume had just started asked a simple question and in the space of 3 minutes there was no less than 20 replies telling him where to shove it and other such forms of abuse.. the WoW community is the worst i've ever encountered and you say Blizzard take abuse seriously?? your dreaming pal.
@OP : I seriously don't doubt you, screenies would help in posts like this though. But to be honest it doesn't suprise me that this could and would happen. My advice.. forget it, be glad your out of the crap and if your wanting to play MMO's still keep your eyes peeled for one that interests you.
Side note : Some others have mentioned that accounts have been hacked in the past, sounds to me like shoddy protection of the players personal info to me.. Blizzard (or whoever runs the account side) should be held responcible if hacking is this common.

What server do you play on? I play on a PvP EU server and the community is pretty good no assholes apart from when i visited the forums (i will never do that again), anyway you can't blame Blizzard for the public's behaviour. If you don't get your ban lifted then i suggest trying a new game. Pre-order WAR quickly and try it out you may like it.
The OP is obviously a troll. I would be hopping mad if I got banned for no reason, not just commenting "strange behavior". The post makes no sense. Played to much BG in one weekend and I only have 300 gold, lol. You don't get banned for having gold or playing BG. You get banned because there is reason to believe that you are breaking the rules. If you have a real case then just call them.
I had a friend that got a keylogger and ended up getting his account hacked. The hacker used a third party program that got the account banned. Once they investigated and saw what happened, Blizz reversed everything and gave his account back. If you are for real then you have nothing to worry about.
If you get any abuse in chat all you have to do is right click on the persons name in chat and select report spam from the drop down. Thay have by far the easiest system of any game for reporting abuse I have ever seen. No need to open a ticket and it takes all of 3 seconds and 2 clicks of the mouse.

This is the case for many MMO's, it's the fact that the abuse happened in the first place after this guy/gal asked a simple question. very bad for WoW's rep and the rep of the good players. Even though WoW's community already has a bad rep due to the bad players trolling other MMORPG game forums just to cause hassle and post such things as "This game is crap compared to WoW" or "WoW was the first to make that system, damned <company> are thieving WoW's ideas", shame really, guess they don't know that WoW is a direct descendant of the original D&D table top/pen and paper and "got" their ideas from that.
7 years of playing MMORPG's and i've seen it all, 80% has been from WoW players/fans, i know for a fact there are good people in WoW as i personally have 6 friends who play it. Come on good people, it's time you had your say so the rotten apples don't give you all a bad rep as they already have been doing.
Keep in mind OP that Blizzard can only communicate with the registered email address linked to the account - check your spam and junk filters too. In the EU the Data Protection Act will stop them talking about the problem on the forums so I doubt that they can help you that way other than resend the original email and advise on what steps to do next.
Is it possible that you have been keylogged? Even if your character has little gold of its own, it is keylogged accounts that stand around in cities spamming gold adverts. Most people when loading the game will jump straight to their regular server and might not see clusters of level one characters on other servers.
Without knowing the exact text of the communication Blizzard sent you I suppose it is even possible that the account has been suspended for your own protection if there is some kind of ownership dispute or if it looks as if the account has been compromised.
Side note : Some others have mentioned that accounts have been hacked in the past, sounds to me like shoddy protection of the players personal info to me.. Blizzard (or whoever runs the account side) should be held responcible if hacking is this common.
The "hacking" is not occuring on Blizzard's side. When people complain of being hacked they actually mean they have been keylogged in most cases. It has to be the responsibilty of the player to look after their log on details, avoid clicking on dodgy links and have appropriate security measures in place. I would really hope people do this anyway because who gives a crap about a game if you are as lax with protecting your banking or credit card details.

I have to quote my self because ppl don't read the reply i made :-)
It was a trojan that sent my login info to a webhost. I found that out when I tried another antivirus software and it found the virus i had.
I have also sent all info to blizzard with my org. cd-key trying to reclaim my old account but i fully understand if that account been involved in shady transaction in the game they probably wanna keep it closed for ever.
I call BS on the OP for not saying the reason he was banned. Blizzard are professional they don't ban peoples randomly for no reasons. And to ban someone right of the bat instead of giving him a warning first, you must have done something very severe.
Some peoples are clueless, it's amazing how peoples think they can trade accounts or powerlevel their toon and think they did nothing wrong. It's so easy for Blizzard to see if for example you got powerleveled. You always logged from an IP in NY and all of the sudden someone from China logged on on your account 5 minutes after you logged off from NY.... doesnt make much sense.

willing to bet you were using the mod/macro to auto trinket or auto attack a stealthed target or a feigned target.
i have 7 70's across 3 accounts. never been banned, never issued a warning.
if you dont buy gold/cheat, you wont get banned. simple enough
Blizzard always state the reason for the ban on the email they send, always.
Post the email here and we might be able to help you.
