WHY in all that is holy would Mythic and EA put out the open beta for WAR on the SAME DAY SPORE comes out?!
I don't know what to do!?! I've been waiting so much longer for spore.. but I don't want to miss Open Beta... ..... .....
Anyone else having issues with this?

But...
If you have to choose...skip work that day, and play both games all day. Forgo any obligations and don't speak to anyone!

Just buy them both, skip the War open beta....the game comes out the following week. Gives you a week to take over the spore universe.
I think I will pick up Spore first, myself...it's just OB, not like anything I do there will matter at live.
Oh I'll buy them both, but I don't want to miss some WAR time. I don't want to be completely blindsided when I choose classes on the early launch.
Then again... whatever characters I make and play with will be deleted anyways.....

I don't see any conflict there. Spore will cater to my megalomania, being single-player and all, while WAR is just perfect for a nice social evening with my friends if I'm not in the mood for going out.
Spore and WAR are the only two soon-to-be-released games that interest me at all. IMO one or the other is going to take game of the year award. Looong development time, lotsa money sunk in, highly respected and experienced developers with original and well thought out ideas.... I'd be crazy to deny myself any one of those treats!
Luckily I've been in WAR beta for 8 months so I can stand to wait a little.
I will pick up spore after work, come home, jump on war open beta quick to create a character, then quit to give spore a try.
I do feel bad for those not in my position who must make a difficult choice though.

imo spore can wait until i've got my shadow warrior and sword master to level 40 :P
Yeah I'm sort of at this point too. I was really looking forward to trying out Spore, but as WAR time was approaching and I began to research it a little more I have been consumed.
Spore will just have to wait I guess!
Clearly your only option is to buy both and start smoking meth.
Perfect day for release. Anyhting is better than other games I won't mention.
Hehe, well the only thing left for you to do now is mutate a couple of extra arms and a head so you can enjoy both at the same time ! Or start thinking about getting a crash course in time management.
Last resort would be in ditching one game and focussing on the other

How long is the open beta? Sept 7th to...Sept?

Believe the OB would be a little shorter than a week, maybe 5 days, since a week from the 7th would be the 14th, which is when the CE preorders get their Head Start. Mythic probably needs a little downtime between OB and the Head Start.
OP, I'd wait on WAR even though it's awesome. Your OB characters will be wiped anyways, and you don't have to play right on the 7th.

And The Force Unleashed comes out the same day as the official WAR release.
Not only is it the same day spore comes out but also the start of the NFL season

My debate is:
War Open Beta characters will be wiped and capped at level 20!!! So, I am planning on playing characters I would not normally play, like I did towards the end of CB and on the free weekend.
DO I: Dive into WAR all out?
OR: Play Spore too and stay sort of on the light side with WAR until the headstart?
hmmmm. Major issue for me on the gaming front.
I'm actually kind of worried about Spore... I'm starting to think it's not going to be as great as I thought it would be a couple years ago

Either way, I'll be waiting for reviews on Spore... that gives me at least a day to play Open Beta!
Yup, all the games I was looking forward to this year and they all come out at the same time. oO
Tbh though, I didn't think too highly of the FU demo, plus controllers really make the experience crappy. I'll be renting FU for the Xbox and the Wii, hoping the Wii will make the game awesome.

Spore is made by EA, why would you want to play anything made by .....
wait, never mind.
Just skip the Open Beta, the Game won't run away since the real start will be the 14
. Btw September is really a month to be aware off, all the nice TV shows start again in this Month (M.D House, Dexter, Heroes, Prison Break and many more).
