At this point, it's obviously a real game, and it's obviously going to see a release.

The question that remains is how stable the game is going to be when paying customers get their hands on it. That's something that we won't know until we play it.

  • If you would of asked me prior to today I would of said sure I believe, but where is the proof. Today I must say I was impressed and must now get into their beta.

    I dont get it!

The video changes nothing. Darkfall was in the same state the day before the video as it was the day after. Aventurins works as hard now as they did before.

Darfall didnt magically appear one day. Its the result from a small Indie developer working thier asses of for a long time.

I'm still not convinced that Darkfall exists and that won't change until either I, or someone I know has played it.

All the video did was show off a game engine, which any half-asleep game dev could do.

I would love to believe in the game, but there are too many ifs, buts, and maybes surrounding it.

This actually IS kind of an interesting question. Here's why...

There is no way to truly know if this game WILL release. Period.

You can only know whether it HAS or HAS NOT  released. If the game hasn't released, then you must choose either to believe or disbelieve in it's ultimate launch. If the game has launched or collapsed, then the matter has resolved and there's nothing to believe in. The belief that this game is or is not going to release is tantamount to a religious faith.

Are you a believer or a heretic?

An interesting facet of belief is that it's nature is self-fulfilling. That is, if you believe something to be the case, you will generally come to interpret information available to you in a way that supports your belief rather than undermines it.

That is why the arguments on this board won't end until the game is either released or collapses.

And like a religion it is the IDEA, the CONCEPT of the game that has so enthralled the minds of the gaming public. It promises the nirvana of MMOs.

And the video that just released... It could have looked like just about anything. As long as it didn't change the fact that, in the minds of the faithful, the CONCEPT remained intact and secure.

IMO, the worst thing that could happen to the most fanatically faithful would be to play this game, since they would then be forced to reconcile the IDEAL of this game as it has existed for eight years in their minds with the reality of the game that they play with all its flaws and imperfections. That's why, if this game does ever launch, the greatest detractors of this game are going to come from within the flock of the most faithful itself.

I believe Darkfall is in a real stage of development, but to say that it's on its way out the door is a little bit of an exaggeration.  They haven't even accepted beta testers yet.  Even after they accept some testers and go through the tedious beta stages the game won't be on its way out the door.  It will take some time to ensure that the game is ready for release and can actually function without crashing.

As far as seeing that 2008 release on MMORPG.com, well that is a joke.  There is not a chance in hell this game will be out this year.  I wish it was true, but there is no way.  I hope I can eat my words later this year, but I don't see it happening:)

the thing that has changed is they are now publicly naming release date within 2008, when giving interviews with magazines etc. and they now have a publisher, and in the publisher press release it also mentions october beta.

so this time they have REALLY committed themselves. They are 100% aware, that they have broken fans hearts before with their internal beta date estimates, and they do NOT want to miss the release date, like Tasos stated in a recent Warcry article.

well you should be more objective than just saying it wont. save you an arse chewing later for being wrong.

But release im not even sure on that

  • altairzqaltairzq Member Posts: 3,811

IT's still a valid question. I think it *might* release. I'd say chances now are 50%, which is amazing for Darkfall.

They said you wouldn't make it so far a a

And ever since they've said it its been hard

But never mind that night'cha had to cry

Cause you had never let it go inside

You worked real hard and you know exactly what you want and need so believe

And you can never give up

    You can reach your goals

Just talk to your soul and say

    [Chorus:]

    I believe i can

    I believe i will

I believe i know my dreams are real

    I believe i can

    I believe i will

I believe i hold it soon man

That is what i do believe

Your fools are justes singing, your soul aha

And you know that your moves will let them show

You keep creating pictures in your mind

So just believe they will come true in time

It will be fine leave all of your cares and stress behind and

    Just let it go

Let the music go inside again the pain

    It just start to believe

    [Chorus]

    [Rap passage]

At third my yet what people say

Hold your head high and turn away

With all my hopes and dreams I will believe

Even though it seems it's not for me

I won't give up, i'll keep it up

    Looking to the sky

I will achieve on my knees

    I will always believe

    [2x chorus]

I think it will eventually release, for sure. Not in 2008 though. I will be utterly amazed if it launched before the year's end in a stable condition..

    From the sticky:

"Before you post here, take a few seconds and think of what your purpose is with it.

Are you actually intrested to see this game get released? If not, why are you here?

If you have negative comments, please try to elaborate in such manor that we can provide you with a answer."

Just like in the other thread.  All you do in this forum is try to convince people this game isnt real.  Why are you here?  Make your statement once, stop reposting in every thread.

    Trolling

Posting excessive negative comments or baiting others to respond in a negative manner is considered trolling on the MMORPG.com forums.

For example: If there is one game that you did not enjoy, voicing your opinion is encouraged. Posting this opinion in every thread concerning that game to the point that it disrupts all other conversation is not tolerated.
