The Man Responsible for the "In A World..." Quote has died.
"Don LaFontaine, the undisputed viceroy of voiceovers, died Monday of complications from the treatment of an ongoing lung-related illness. He was 68."
RIP Man, Movie Trailers Will NEVER be the same without you.

You led a great life.

Son of a bitch, that guy was always so hilarious on Conan. He will be missed.
In a world without Don LaFontaine...
You know, it's amazing since I never even saw the guy until he was in one of those insurance commercials, but I can't imagine a movie advertisement or trailer without him.
R.I.P. Don. Tell the Snowman "Hi" for me.
what did he drop?
okay not so funny..... yeah sad to see him go
Yeah uhm, im sad he died and all but, seriously... THANK YOU GOD. I was SOOOOO SICK of this guys voice on nearly EVERY FRIGGIN MOVIE PREVIEW KNOWN TO MAN. It got old, hollywood is already a repeated industry, don't need the same voice over on every preview. Maybe now we can get some variety.
When I first saw that commercial I was thinking "not what I pictured he would look like"! I was thinking about 6'5 260 pounds!
Sorta off-topic but has anybody ever heard Pablo Francisco's comedy bit about Don? It's hilarious! Not the crappy Comedy Central special he did a few years ago but the album from about 7 or 8 years ago. One of my favorite comedy albums of all time!
R.I.P Don, now you can rest your vocal chords.
Bartoni's Law definition: As an Internet discussion grows volatile, the probability of a comparison involving Donald Trump approaches 1.
Don LaFontaine was my worst movie enemy, i hated that voice more then i hate Uwe Boll. Still.....now it feels abit sad. I didnt even know he was ill.
Didn't he also do the voice for Optimus Prime back in the days of old school transformers?
As for replacement voices, there is a reporter for on NPR radio that sounds simular to him, but it is a bit more raspy. I think it was NPR. There are two freelance radio news groups in my area.
