2. Getting an opportunity to better know other classes before permanently deciding on yours.
3. Knowing good quests and exp spots will only help you level a bit faster than your opposite realm counterparts. May make the first few weeks go a bit more in your favor.
4. The best thing a person can do to help pass the time until the release of Warhammer is to play Warhammer
Mythic/EA even stated on their CB Elder servers that..
Hey folks, here is your chance to give us feedback on what you like and dislike about the game. What are some trouble areas and what else can we do to make the game more enjoyable (something like that).
Being part of as a BETA TESTER for this game has been EXCELLENT. Its showing that the devs are listening to the testers and want our feedback.
Now if this also applies on the Open Beta server, by all means, complain in the game on what you like and dislike. It seems they are listening, you might as well take advantage of it and see if you can make a difference on your ideas with the rest of us.
The one thing on this list of reasons I think is odd is the 'to help me pick out my go live class'. To me that implies that you're going to be in a deathrace to level 40 when the game comes out. I humbly suggest that you enjoy the ride a bit more. Roll up some alts, check out the scenery. Zerging to the end game content is probably going to wind up giving you burnout in the long run. Need evidence for that? You're salvating at playing yet another MMORPG, you're probably already burned out on the existing games.

Your post basically makes no sense. Time spent playing the game is time spent playing the game.
If someone waits for live to open the client, mull around on several different classes, then pick a favorite to play more exclusively, how is that any different from someone opening the client in open beta, mulling around on several different classes and identifying a favorite to play more exclusively?
Aside from, you know, the beta guy's experiments get wiped while the live guy has a login screen cluttered with newblets that he likely won't play again.
Another thing to keep in mind is that in any (literally any) kind of thing that requires a plan or individual choice is likely to be made poorly or less than optimally the first time around. This applies to so much more than games, but for the sake of not rambling as much as I normally do, we'll just keep it confined to character builds.
You cannot possibly make an ideal and desireable character from scratch while learning the game's mechanics, features, and bugs or flaws unless you are just tremendously lucky. Considering that almost all MMOs have a scaling penalty tied to successive respecs, it certainly doesn't hurt to make the first few mistakes on learning the nuances of a new character that you have no real attachment to, that you know will be scrapped before the "real" attempt anyway.
Great points about how the first experimenting in character choice is usually not optimized for what you ultimately will wish to stick with. It is quite true that the first time around you always make a mistake or two or find out something you dont like or something you wish to do more of. It is a great thing to be able to experiment for a week and know that it's just that, experimentation, and all your trials and errors will be wiped clean for your release game version so you can start fresh and know a little better what you want out of the game.
Also a good way to test out scams so you can rob people fo their hard earned cash etc.
Then when all the people that havent been in ob come along you have a stream of clients to get stuck into.
I mean really man.. with what 20 classes a new style of play and th prospect of a bit of a race - why wouldnt you OB to increase your efficiency ? Testing is fun too.

For me, it's not about deathracing to the end. But I do want to be able to consistently play with all of my friends that will also be playing, and if a couple of us are sure about our class, but some of us don't know and need to reroll, staying together would be a challenge. I surely will have multiple characters to explore other content with (and I also plan on having an Order server and a Destruction server), however, as I stated earlier, I have a trend of sticking with one character. Plus, it's perfectly possible to travel everywhere with one character, even if you're too high a level, and "check out the scenery" that way.

Though I agree, I had heard that it isn't near as difficult to respec in WAR as it is in WoW (money) or DAoC (rare item drop). My plan, is to try out the classes and test the game, while at the same time messing with the wonderful character builder (forgot the website or I'd post it) and experimenting with a good build for which ever character I believe I'll be playing.

There will be a lot of people who haven't had a chance to try the game hands on yet.
I'll be logging in during OB and I might play the few professions that I haven't tried yet, we'll see.
Mostly I just want to keep my client up to date ready for the headstart.
