First off, let me vent a little about how tired I am of FilePlanet's download manager... Ever since the first time I had to use this thing I've hated its "line" system. Making people of any connection speed feel they need to pay them just so they don't have to wait 40-50 minutes any time they want to download anything, regardless of how many others are in the "line" just feels evil, y'know? Normally though, I'm fine with it. It's going to download eventually, and then it's all good.
I've been downloading the beta client for approximately four days now. According to the download manager, I am now 92% done with it with less than a GB remaining. The problem is that since two days ago, it's been kicking me off increasingly more frequently and sending me to the back of the 59 or so minute wait line. Sometimes it downloads for a few minutes and then sends me to the back again, most of the time now I don't even witness it download and it either immediately sends me to the back *again*, or it gives me a "no mirrors found" message and makes me manually retry. The last of which isn't good for leaving the thing run overnight for its frequency, I've found. Other times, while downloading, it will stop. Not just stop downloading, but it'll stop everything. Other programs stop working, I can't pull up the Windows Task Manager, the entire system unoffically crashes, so I have to force shut down, start it back up, and, you guessed it, wait in line again. I had to do this at least three times yesterday.
tl;dr, I hate FilePlanet. So I'm looking for an alternative site or mirror to get this off of, but I'm preferrably looking for a direct download rather than a torrent, which seems somewhat harder to find. I've been meaning to try www.gpdownloads.co.nz/dl.dyn/Files/3974.html, but I'm one, not very familiar with downloading and unzipping ISO files, and B, to a lesser degree, I hope it being based in New Zealand doesn't accidentally saddle me with a EU client even though it isn't marked that. Any thoughts, suggestions, or other topics to direct me to where the matter of FilePlanet alternatives are addressed?

Well you shouldn't have to unzip an "iso", just burn that on to a dvd and shaaazaaam, it should work properly.
Or you could also download a free program called daemon tools lite and enable a virtual drive, then you just mount the image file(aka *.iso) and run it directly off of your harddrive.
Google it for more info

I've ordered the normal WAR edition, so I asked the freedyshouse for a beta key.
These dudes were really nice and they gave me one then they recommended me this torrent.
It works pretty decent. You should try it.
Thanks for the suggestions so far. My site doesn't work; it requires users to log in but it doesn't offer a place to log in at. Dead serious. As for the other, are you sure I should download a EU client? I'm trying to get a US one.
In an act of desperation, I have installed Bittorrent, but naturally, I can't find any torrents regularly seeded, up to date, or even just matching the size it should be. As you can guess I get really suspicious of torrent files, I don't want to download anything that isn't what it looks like.
Of course, I could always just delete the file I've been working on and start the FilePlanet download allllll over again... -_-
EU client, EU servers. I think someone did hae apost about a couple of lines/files that could be changed to force you to the US queue with that client, but I would hate to go through the trouble and find out it was blocked. Or wait 5 days for overseas patchers.
As for the torrent, even if you can get something close, it should patch up 9once the patch goes live).
Sorry: Double post.
I had many probs downloading the Beta client.
It turned out that my Cable modem was dying, or so the cable co said, as i could only get 50kbps on average, 4-5 days to DL then!
Anyway, my PC just wouldnt get the file down or cleanly, so in the end i pulled it down on the same modem via my laptop at about 250kbps, tehn copied the file across.
The DLM is troublesome, but it wasnt my only prob. It also kept disconnecting for me and at 8.8 gb disconnected then started again from 40% how f'ing annoying is that lol...
after 3 days and 4 attempts to download the file , once i was at 9.1 and it refused to restart, I bit the bullet and paid 7 bucks for a months membership. Damned if did not DL down on the first try straight through with no kicks and unzipped perfectly. My suggestion drop is 7 bucks for a months membership then DL every trial and beta you can during that month.
I miss DAoC
I had no problems downloading from FilePlanet. Download was done in12 hours. Problem I hated is "cool I got my WAR software" Then it does this unlocking thing that took almost 15 minutes to complete.
I get Fileplanet for free...so I had no problems downloading it. I actually downloaded the file for a friend of mine in like 4 hours or something ridiculous.
