I have been recently asking about game industry occupations, and I was wondering which occupational jobs you guys would take if you had the chance to help create a game.
* I bi-accidentely hit enter so a couple careers will be missing.

I'm a Creative Director/Lead Designer/Level Designer of a MMO Company.
...I'd rather be a Producer or Director...
- CaesarsGhost
Lead Gameplay and Gameworld Designer for a yet unnamed MMO Title.
"When people tell me designing a game is easy, I try to get them to design a board game. Most people don't last 5 minutes, the rest rarely last more then a day. The final few realize it's neither fun nor easy."
Animator or game designer for me.
Level Designer / 3D modeling
I've created some Multiplayer maps for a game called Rune and one for Jedi Outcast. It has always been a hobby for me. It would be awesome to do it as a career but my focus is in graphic design. I would still like to do more level design but I haven't done it in a couple years. I just lost interest in playing Multiplayer FPS/Third-Person games and moved toward MMOs. When that happened I didn't have the drive to design maps anymore.
I do want to get back into doing 3D modeling though. I've modeled with 3DS Max and Lightwave. I want to try my hand with Blender. My only hesitation is learning a new program. The reason for the switch of programs is Blender is free and from what I've seen a really nice 3D prorgram from the work I've seen created with it.
Level Designer/Builder considering that is what I am doing while working as an Intern.
Sooner or Later
Concept Game artist
Then Community Manager.
People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.
3d modeling and art are a large part of my career so I would probably want to explore the concept creation side of things.
(although I suppose that is a large part of my work as well but in a greater difference as far as initial concepts)
Quality control and human resource auditing ( one title ).
Programmer. Granted I'm specced for bussiness programming so I'd probably be doing database design and implementation.
I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.
I want the job that lets me punch Brad Mcquaid in the elderberries!
Lead marketing because it pays the most by a long margin.
www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/average-us-developer-salary-73-600
results surprise me -thought everyone would be wanabee game designers(like me)
Id say writer would be the only thing I would be suitable for. I have no l33t technical skills, and wow some of these games could do with a new creative vision thats for sure.
why no testers?i'm one in RL and i'm curently studing to be a programer.

Remember the good old days when devs made games just for the sake of making a great game?
They are forever gone now all they care is about how much they can earn from them, if they can't make millions they won't make that game.
REMEMBER THE OLD DAYS AND REGRET THEY HAVE PASSED.
Tbh the only real 'careers' there are programmer, artist and sound engineer... but watch all the talentless people vote for design roles because "OMFG I WANT 2 B A GAMEZ DESIGNER AND MAEK LEVELS!!!!!!"
Programming is far and away the most boring job of all of those......
Yet Game Designer is a 5 year long education here in Denmark which also would teach you programming skills. I guess most people don't actually realize what it truely means to be a game designer.
Sound Engineer, though it's something completely different than what I am doing today, I do have my papers of being a sound-engineer, use to when I was younger (damn that sounds old :P) wanted to become a music producer and sound-engineer at the time was as close one could get 17 years ago, did make a complete career switch and can't say I regret it, but it has nothing to do with games. So sound engineer would be the closest thing for me to reach IF I would go into the gaming industry according to the choices OP gave. I could tell what I really could do but hey!.... this is the internet......so...
Now excuse me Spore is calling
Don't really know the difference between Level Designer and Game Designer but would probably be between those or Programming. I'm currently studying programming so it's most likely that if I ever get into a game creation career it would be as a programmer.
In order of my preference:
1. Website designer and/or webmaster. Creator of advertising images too.
2. Writing lore and dialogues.
3. Live events team member.

Good luck getting a job with that degree.
Games Design = Creativity, something that can't really be taught. It isn't really a 'career' more something you just 'fall into'.
Programmer.
Do you think by "game designer" the OP means rules (for example spells) and balancing? Because that's important and it's missing.
