Something smells fishy. If Darkfall is so great and it's the mmorpg everyone has been waiting for, why the lack of information? Where's the in-depth explanation of how crafting and adventuring work?? Where's the youtube video of a person playing so we can see the UI and see how smooth the combat looks during real gameplay?
The video that was just released a few days ago tells us nothing. Any clown can turn the UI off, jack up the graphics on his high end PC and record some pretty 3rd person video in game. And I don't care that the devs said the video was recorded on medium graphical settings. I don't buy it. Besides, it wasn't really impressive anyway. There were quite a few choppy and dated looking scenes. I imagine those are more along the lines of what the game will actually end up playing like if it ever sees the light of day.

Where is the equivalent video from the Darkfall devs? What are they hiding?

I will say: They're not very experienced at any of this. They aren't refined in business model or execution. They aim big... but have no helping hand to pull them along. They're missing a lot of things and just as I mentioned in another thread---- players are tired of the same chet in all other MMOs and are chasing the ideal because they're starving--- as one Darkfall fan admitted: They're clinging to the idea.

Anyway your correct for them not showing the UI or other aspects of the game people wanted to see like crafting etc. I think at least for darkfall this was a huge step in the right direction to show us they actually had something. Maybe they will add another video soon.

Fanboys are almost as annoying as haters.
Give a game a shot befcore you decide that it's good or bad. Of course, it won't be anything like Age of Conan. It's not like they haven't had enough time to make a complete game or anything.
How come people care SO much?? How is it possible to not just lean back and wait?
There must be thousands of other things to do while waitng. Ohh wait! Many that come here are not even wating for DF? Thats wierd. And still they are very keen to give us a "professional analysis" of Aventurine and Darkfalls development.
Aventurine is a even smaller Indie developer then Icarus (Fallen Earth), and they have to work in their way. Maybe thay will pull it of, maybe they wont. Everyone knows that.
And about the video, i think the OP knows you dont have a UI when you play. If you need it you puch RMB to see the UI....and then you remove it gain.
But seriously, there were so much information in that video. If anyone looks at it..they will see most features. Aventurine is famous for not rubbing information in the face. As the finishing move at the end of the video. They dont make a big fuzz about it.
And that says alot : )
That video showed an awlful lot of things in-game that we didn't know previously. Those siege warhulks were a complete surprise. Horned horse type mount things. Those flying glass discs. That tree climbing spell. Most of those dramatic locations. Any other developer would have been screaming about all that stuff years before the beta.
But then other developers have a PR department
No thank you, i will not buy that "Interface" show off again. I' ve seen a lot of interfaces, features and devs smiling in front of cameras in the last 8 years. A shiny boring interface's demonstration is the last thing i would ever expect from Aventurine. At least they showed players interacting in their video.
Fallen earth's video is just a demo of "features" that have been done again and again in the last mmorpgs. You may prefer to interact with Interfaces, i prefer to interact with people and that's what Aventurine proved.
P.S: In the first part of the Fallen Earth's video shows NPCs floating while sitting down. Please tell them to fix that before release.

There is TONS more info released for DF than FE, you just have to read it instead of having explained to you like a 2 year-old.

Hmmm, beta wasn't announced last year other than the internal date...which was made. And it wasn't promised the year before that either... Your argument seems to be made of air. Here's from the publisher site.

Who in their right mind would sit down and read 260 pages of mostly repetitive information scattered among 5000 pages of complete drivel? Seriously. People need a five to fifteen page synopsis. Of facts not speculations.
They're written by the developers of the game, so they ARE facts...
And there ARE synopses, they're linked in the sticky on the front page of this forum. Alternatively, there's the wikipedia article.
If people aren't intelligent enough to be able to find and read even these short summaries, they should be going back to secondary school, not posting on MMO forums.

What do you not understand? The developers gave us fans exactly what we asked for.
On the main forums for Darkfall the fans asked for a gameplay video showing large PvP battles, Ship battles and siege battles.

I would like to see a dancing female elf......to view the ..ehh....graphics better.
It looks good - I like the idea of a modern FFA PvP game with full loot and FPS style combat. I'm sure it will need to be graphically reduced to cope with that stress. I can cope with that. I cant wait. If they fail to deliver they will be in great company with AoC, Warhammer (Lite version) and countless others that promised new and innovative and deliver cookie cutter repackaged wow clones.
In my opinion they didn't show the details such as UI or how adventuring etc works cause frankly most gamers don't care>.>
Many people among them me also, wanted to see combat, big sieges and naval battles. You know the cool stuff of the game.
The UI and the more practical stuff are to be left for when they launch their beta and they have to explain their system to the players. For now the fact that they hype us is enough.
