Actually compared to what it was a few weeks ago this is quite civil. The best thing you can do is if you see someone breaking the RoC report them and don't reply by flaming them as that will just get you warned or banned as well. Make sure you give a well thought out reason for the report as well as this will get the mods attention faster then just, "OMG, THIS GUY IS A TROLL, BAN PLZ!!!!". The Mods are actually doing a much better job in this section recently than they have in the past. Remember that the report function is your friend so don't be afraid to use it. It's your best weapon in the ongoing war against the nasty flamers and trolls.

If they explain why they think a game sucks, it cannot be locked according to the Rules of Conduct. Just gotta live with it.
If they start flaming people or the game without giving an explanation why they think the game sucks then you can /report it
Game Attacks
Unsubstantiated comments about specific or general games will be penalized in nearly the same way attacks against people will. The exception is that you can say mean things about games provided you back it up with reasons.
Example: "Game X sucks." is not a legitimate comment. "Game X sucks, because..." is acceptable.
When I was a moderator here and if I saw someone freaking out because another person was bashing a game they liked, I always ignored the report. However, if the person who /reported the post had a valid reason (i.e., the offensive post just slammed the game without reason why such as "this game is a piece of shit" then it can get locked.). But the /report will always get ignored unless the offensive poster does not give reason why they think the game sucks.
Also, they can /report if they spam somehting over and over and over. And unfortunately, 14 different users starting a thread of why they think a game is vaporware, etc is not spam. Spam means when the same user post the same rehtoric over and over and over.
Take a look at Age of Conan section as an example. TONS of peope posting that they hate the game. The reaosn why 95% of em aren't locked is because they give reason why they dont like it.

If people don't start following these rules, I'm going to start reporting them. I'm tired of the lies, slander, and continual trolling that is not allowing people interested in Darkfall to hold civil discussions.
So stop the trolling, bashing, flaming, and stay out unless you can follow the rules.

Remember, this isnt the official forums where negative posts will get locked. People at mmorpg.com has always had the freedom to slam a game as long as they give their reason why. The reason may not even have to factual or true but they have to provide a reason.
For example if some one posts:
Darkfall is shit. Always has been always will be
Then that is reportable and can be locked.
If someone says:
Darkfall is shit. The game has been in development since 2001 and its always changing their dates and I cannot trust the developers more than I can trust my ex girlfriend.
That above post cannot be /reported as the user adhered to the RoC (that link you just posted). Hope that helps.

Technically fanobis and trolls are no different in when it comes to zealotry about this game.

I don't care what people say as long as they follow the rules and a lot of people are not following the rules. I have no quest other than to have civil discussions without people coming in with trolling, lies, flaming, and taking threads off topic.

In fact most of the time, if you inquire politely, theyll lift just about any ban. Thats not to say theyll let you get away with murder. But theyre not out there playing forum Gestapo either.

It is not a discussion thread, nor an opinion one, unless it is about the questions being asked. And yet you stil have people saying "i cant wait to see what kind of pile this game is in on release"

Well I suppose to put one in the win column for the trolls, they generally dont say you shouldnt be entitled to an opinion because it differs from yours.
Though I suddenly just had a vision of Chris Crockers "Leave Britney Alone" video......
actually all 3? of the troll posts in that thread were all removed. so thank you mods.
Hopefully we can keep it civil over there. If anything the people who troll there will be easily labeled because if you post anything but a question, answer, or debate about the accuracy of the answer....it is a troll.

I'm having a difficult keeping up with all the trolling, haven't seen it. It would be nice to have some decent Q&A sessions though, I've enjoyed what little chance we've had.

There is nothing wrong with someone wanting to help clean up the flaming and trolling in this or any forum for that matter. As long as what he is reporting is indeed that, flaming or trolling. The mods on this site have also gotten a lot more strict as of late as well. What you're saying about them may have been true a year ago but it's changed in the last few months. Nowhere has he stated that he wants to report people for stating negative viewpoints as long as they are posted within the rules as defined by the RoC. If everyone loved Darkfall this forum would be a pretty boring place to discuss the game. He just feels that the discussions should remain somewhat civil and with that I agree. Trolls and flamers hide on both sides of the fence in this section, both fanboi and hater and they should be treated equally.
