I am actually starting to think that what ehnrho says in that thread is true. Could all of these positive threads that get created (which are just absurdly positive, btw) be people that Funcom hired, or dare I say it, Funcom devs posting themselves?
I mean, I can understand someone liking the game. That's fine with me. But to be so overly positive, "OMG bestest game everz." It's just kind of...odd.

Meh let em enjoy it. I was close to being that excited when I first got the game. That quickly dwindled down and finaly came to a point of disgust. I don't like the game anymore but if he enjoy's it let em.
Most people don't deal well with buying/playing a crap MMO.
That's why they go into heavy denial and go cheering around like true fanboi cretins.
There's no cure to that, unfortunately.

From reading that thread I think the poster named ehnrho maybe on to something. "As lame as it sounds, I'm starting to think Funcom is actually posting crap like this here on their own forums using sock-puppets. Far too much of it sounds similar."
Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with people who like AoC. People can play what they want, everyone has different tastes. But these posts just seem fake to me. The same way that some of the bashing posts seem fake when people call the game a scam and crap like that. Anyone who played Dark and Light knows what a real game-scam is like.
Think about when Avery posts here. He loves the game and is always posting about it, hell he's probably one of the game's biggest supporters. But you never see him ever saying stupid things like "It's the best game ever." (Sorry to drag you into this Avery, no disrespect intended.)
Could be fake I wouldn't put something like that past Famine. Was just implying he may have just got the game , sounded like he did atleast. Doesn't mean he did though.
edit: I just went back and reread and nah I take that back about him just being new. It's a bit to ... something just doesnt sound legit reading through it completely.

I mean, it's good to be deluded if you're having fun. We call that immersion. AoC during the first 20 levels is certainly very impressive, drastically different from the Khesetta grind that turns people off end-game. 'least people like me.
I can't say I was ever that overenthusiastic, but I can understand being overenthusiastic. No reason for Funcom to be implanting posters on their own boards, much easier to just censor.
What gets me more than the op are the people responding to him.

Liking a game is all very well, but saying statements like "omg this is the best game evar" is just retarded.
Edit: After reading again, I've come to the conclusion that this guy is just a very good troll.

Don't try to understand fanboi's motives, it's useless, all you'll get is a headache.
I recall one particularly dumb fanboi's posting about how "you should stop whining about lvl 5 boss at tortage shore hitting for 2.3k, you should use tricks and special tactics to kill such a boss". That left me wondering, do those people have any brain cells at all, and since, most probably, they don't, what do they have in there.
Might it be that someone on this planet have different taste than you?

Seems to me a lot of people spend an awful lot of time trying to sabotage the game and send Funcom to the wall. Firstly, i think thats rather sad and juvenile, and secondly, as a Funcom employee id be thinking, hell if they can go on and on about how bad the game is (even though they LIVE in the official forum of a game they apparently despise) ill go on and on about how damn good it is. Why shouldnt they talk up their own game?

It was 415k at the end of Q2 as well, do you honestly thing from June 30th to August 15th, a new MMO had no noticeable change in its subscription numbers?
Keep in mind the market speak that is used. They are saying how many accounts are still active, not how many of those get used. If there are 415k active account still, but 2-300k aren't going to auto-renew in 1, 3 6, months, then that's zero income from those accounts in Q3 and Q4, and those reports will be what brings out the truth behind AoC, because Funcom can't keep that information private like they're doing with their subscription numbers.
Jesus that's all some of you do. Throw around imaginary numbers in any kind of debate (not that this is a debate or anything) just to make a point. I love how people don't believe someone when they make a claim - IE "Do you have any proof?" But when Funcom says "We have 400k subscribers!" some of you just believe them. Because Funcom would never lie to you, right?
I'm not bashing Funcom, I try not to even though it's really hard sometimes. But hell, I've bashed the hell out of games that I love before. It doesn't mean that I don't like the thing that I'm basing. It's like with your friends, you all make fun of each other and it's funny and entertaining (sometimes). You just can't take it personally. And I'm afraid that's what some people do, they take someone bashing their game of choice as a personal insult, which is just stupid imo.
I have seen people addicted to playing sh!t games that come pre-packed on a cell-phone, it takes all kinds.
And AoC wasn't exactly designer for the "discerning gamer" in mind.
Let them have their fun, I won't begrudge anyone that, my problem is with FC not game's fans.
Honestly, it's quite normal for people to exaggerate their opinion. Especially when so much negativity surrounds their source of enjoyment. You'll see the same post in any forum for any game. I've seen a thousand posts saying this about warhammer, is it true ? To the author it may be, that's really all that matters in the end.
This is where a free market shines, what you hate someone else loves. What they hate you may love, what makes this great is you both win in the end. The better product always wins however, that's another great aspect to a competitive market. We all speak with our wallets, you may have bought the box and stimulated their sales. However, MMO's don't really profit from box sales. The second you stop subscribing, you are sending a clear and powerful message.
