Sorry, yet another "which game shall I play" thread...

As above, I apologise for the repetitiveness that you guys must feel all the time with people asking you which one to play, but I have searched for a while and cant decide, so here goes...

I have been playing myth of soma now for 2 years and enjoyed and will still enjoy it, but i feel it is time to move on... So here's what I am looking for:

1) I like a little PvP, but not open.

2) I dont mind the grind, as long as its not to the scale of L2 (thats just silly).

3) I dont want to have to form a group all the time to lvl (Mu Online for example, cant do anything without a high lvl warrior).

4) I am not fussy about graphics, I will play most games but I would like the standard of something like Diablo 2 graphics-wise, or better.

5) Guild system is a must.

6) Fantasy game, not sci-fi and preferably one with good spears (every game I have played, spears always suck, dont know why >.<)

I was thinking about the Legend of Mir 3, but wanted to ask you guys first. As I was typing, I realised I just described Myth of soma lol. But as I said, I want to move on.

So, an suggestions??

    Try GuildSpear: the SemiPvP Grindage.

Good community, optional PvP, good spears.

No really dude I think you're being a little too fussy. Look the only way to find a MMORPG is to find every single on of them that has a free trial, sign up to it and play it.

I have beaten around the bush and discovered that the best MMORPGs ever are AO, and WW2online. SWG, EVE, and SB are also good however none of them meet your requirements. :)

AO meets prereqs 1-5, but not 6

SB meets 2-6, but not 5

SWG meets 1-5, but not 6

Perhaps DAOC or AC2 could be the games you're after?

Sounds like you want Dark Ages of Camelot.  They've got a platinum edition for $30 that includes all their expansions up to present, with various graphical upgrades to the environments, new classes, races, content, etc.  I played it for a few months (before all those expansions came out), and was kind of frustrated, since I was playing a class that had no real PvE role in a group, which made it hell leveling in order to get to RvR.  Still, the grind was not as bad as the early days of EQ1, and the various realms are pretty cool, since they draw from our own mythology more directly (I played in Midgard, which is based on norse myth).

I also hear they are coming out with an expansion this winter called "Catacombs," which will include instanced dungeons, a graphical upgrade to the character models, and the usual new classes/races, etc.  I may not play anymore, but I am continually impressed by Mythic's ability to improve DAOC and keep it alive.  The changes didn't come quickly enough to keep me around, and it was still too much like EQ1 in some ways (though RvR was a welcome difference despite my difficulties with it due to my class having been rather underpowered in the early days, plus playing on dialup at the time, heh).  Still, my hat's off to them.  I've been tempted more than once to try it again, but I am more interested in the newer games that are coming out this winter, so I am trying to hold off till then.

edit: in regards to having to form a group to do much, unfortunately DAOC was like that as well at the time I played.  They are including more things to make it casual gamer friendly, such as a 'free xp' system if you are leveling slowly, but I do not know if the group-dependence in this game has gotten much better other than that.
