Yes, hello. I understand your question.

Stock coolers, the ones that come with the chip basicly suck.

Also, this might amaze you but the "flat" top of the CPU (heat spreader) is NOT actualy flat.

NOPE, its quite messed up infact. People can reduce temperatures by up to 10 degrees by VERY CARFULY flattening the CPU with sand paper. You can check out how to "LAP A CPU" on google and get some good tips on it. My own experince doing it reduced the temps by 8 degrees. That means the fan runs less fast and is more quiet.

Get some dense foam and use it to protect the CPU bottom, tape around the edges and get wet/dry sand paper of every grit, smallest to most course... sand away with the more corese and clean up then go  to the less and less corse to finaly your finishing with a high grit. I didnt make mine shiney like a mirror and its not critical to do so. ALSO replace your cooler.

put the sand paper on a flat surface and tape it in place. glass works the best, you can use a mirror like I did.

Dont have to go nuts, just get a decent one. Check the cooler bottom with the edge of a ruler or T-square or whatever long flat thing you have. Hold it up to the light and if you see light peeking through then you also need to lap your heat sink cooler.

get lots of ram, like a whole lot. the more the better.

    and also switch to firefox.

the intel processors run fine with stock heatsink and fan. no need to overclock it.

smurf, this is his first build dont tell him to "lap your cpu" or whatever the hell you crazy kids do with glue these days.

Yeah No "Lap" ing your first Computer.. And the stock cooler will be just fine if you dont overclock it. Just get some silver paste for the fan. 5 Bucks? and be carefull. That said.. DONT overclock it... thats for later when you know what your dooing. Plus If you do it wrong it will Messup your comp.

Allso fatsmerf thx for the tip will do that on my next upgrade

    i didnt lap for overclocking.

    i did it for cooling.

i do not belive in overclocking, its silly and doesnt do anything noticable in the real world.

Of course you'll void your warranty if you do any lapping on your cpu or stock heatsink.
