The Chronicles of Spellborn used to have a hype-level of 7.2, which was well deserved, but lately and especially since the last few days the hype level is in decline. This is especially surprising since there has been a flood of new videos from the Leipzig GC, which should have given a new stimulus to the hype.
Now I know you should not trust the hype-meter on this website. Just look at Shadow of Legend and you know what I mean. But still I was wondering what is the matter here.
I can come up with only two reasonable explanations. One, the North American publisher does not sit well with a lot of people. Two, people that hype other games are beginning to see that Spellborn will deliver and are trying to keep the competition down. However, the latter is always going on so it should not make much of a difference.
So the American Publisher Acclaim is much disliked and that influences the hype? What do you think?

I think it is more to do with the impending release of 2 major titles. TCOS probably has been overlooked because of War, and the WoW expansion.
Also as you have said, the hype meter on this site really means nothing, if we wanted we could make some alt accounts and bump its hype meter easily, just as easily as one or two people could make alt accounts and bump it down.
This game has never really had that much publicity, it is going to be one of those titles that will only be a success or be known to the general gaming population by word of mouth if it is good.
From the looks of it it is the Darkfall fanbois attempting to take out the competition. Lot of uninformed rubbish is being posted in the hype page about Spellborn again.
Actually, iirc Spellborn has had a long tradition of this happening when other games came close to release. Oddly enough, every single one of these games failed miserably, but then most mmorpg's tend to do that. So, it is not necessarily a bad sign for Darkfall, perhaps.

Darkfall fanboys seem to be the ones to blame for the drop the last few days. But before that it was already slowly declining, people can't stay hyped up about a game forever
That were the AoC fanbois in action then.

Dont tell me about AoC dont tell me....what a disaster of game. And now waiting for spellborn. :-)
Oh, and another thing. Some bots are hyping bad games and i have a rank of 2 and i cant hype this game.......what happened to this world???!!!! :-D
Don't worry about the rating....it's the Darkfall nuts who know nothing about the game that are rating it with 1s. Once Warhammer is off the hype list I think people will start paying more attention to other games on the list. Once Aion is off of it too I think TCoS could very well top it when people start doing some more research.
Until then, as a community all we can do is try to inform the uninformed as much as possible and hope for the best. Though the hype meter may not be too important, seeing TCoS topping it would be nice I must admit. It is essential that people don't go on a Darkfall-like rating spree, however, as that is completely childish and is almost like cheating.
I noticed the major hype change the same day Warhammer logos started appearing on mmorpg.com.
Not saying that the hype is directly linked with any money for advertisement spent on this website, but it would not be outside the realm of reason.
