Played for 3 hours, un-installed.

I've played Closed beta, and I did play in Preview weekend #1. I generally crash in the game, but it's usually every 30 minutes or more if I'm lucky. I thought that was acceptable since it was an early beta...guess I was wrong. I just played this new patched up version and in the 3 hours of gameplay, I didn't manage to finish a SINGLE SCENARIO. I don't know if I'm the only one, but I'm getting 2-3 times more crashes now, for all kinds of new reasons it seems. I finally gave up and accepted that I can't play this game even on the lowest possible settings. Anyone else getting MORE crashes than before?

That's a completely reasonable reaction in my opinion. (/sarcasm)

To answer your question: I have yet to crash while playing Warhammer Online... I played PW 1 and I'm in PW+ right now, played about 20-25 hours or so in total.

That's really odd my wifes PC is a AMD3200 with 2 gigs of Ram , and a Geforce 7800 GT she runs the game on balanced and has yet to crash once.

You really should have made sure all your drivers were up to date, but sounds like you really didn't dig the game that much anyway,

I have had 2 crashes since I was accepted in to Beta, that was in April. Check your ram for errors, make sure you have enough ram if your running vista, download updates, and check to see if your driver are correct or up to date. Could be your connection too, especially if you might be  running on a wireless router.

What is a completely reasonable reaction? I'm sick of restarting my computer just to play another 15 mins and do it again. I've been doing it for 1+months now and the increased frequency has gotten to me. My computer more then meets the requirements. I guess this was just a question to people who were crashing every 30 mins before this PW like I was.

EDIT: And yeah, everything is up to date.

What are your specs? Wouldn't be suprised if you have at least 4GB or evne 8GB in your comp.

What I have heard from lot of people who crash, are the ones with decent systems, but with 2GB of memory.

So it seems that WAR is still suffering from Memory leaks.

I used xfire to show my time spent in game this week and havent had a crash yet.

I hate to sound like a Mr. know it all, but have you updated your Video drivers? Audio drivers? and what other applications to you have running while playing WAR?

What kind of Virus/Spyware program you running and have you checked your firewall settings?

I understand the frustration ...BUT if it's just your machine (or at least not the majority of players) maybe you might consider something to do with your machine as the culprit.

I crashed every couple of hours last week, mostly CTDs. Today. Nothing. Solid for 6.5 hours straight (well one time I was logged off for sitting idle too long while I made lunch but otherwise....) and no issues.

    I'm quite happy.

I really thought it might have been my machine, but it doesn't explain why people with practically identical (or even lower-end) setups are running it fine.

EDIT: I use AVG and Fixit, and my firewall is fine, and as I said, so are my drivers. I run standard stuff that windows does, essentials basically.

If people with the same specs, or lower are running it fine, then it is your machine. You might be bloated with spyware, your anitvirus is running in the background.

You have not defraged in a while, I only have 3 gigs of memory, and im running just fine i do have a flash drive that gives me 4 more gigs of ram but thats only if go over the 3 gigs of system mem. check your ram might have errors on it.

It could also be that you have too many errors in your modem log, might be your router, or your internet company.

Give me your Specs, from machine to your internet, and running applications. If you want some more insight.

  • I play on the Elder Servers and ive never crashed to desktop once.  I have all the settings to max and i get between 40-90FPS deponding on where i am and what im doing.

    Intel Core 2 duo E8500 3.16Ghz processor

    4G's of DDR2 800 Ram from Mushkin

    ATI 4870 video card

    Gigabyte X48-DS4 motherboard

    Windows Vista 64 bit

The reason your crashing could all depond on your hardware.

I know you've said everything is 'fine'. However, have you made sure you have the 'latest' drives for video and sound? And make sure you aren't using the ones off M$ u Update site. They are 'current' but tend to do bad things when it comes to the proper running of things like games.

If you are running Vista, did you try Readyboost to give yourself more RAM? (Actually if you have Vista you can check the Reliability Monitor to help pinpoint the issue).

I crash, mostly in scenarios. I am ok with this, as they are aware of the problem. You should have downloaded that one song, called Patience.

To the OP, that's unfortunate, wait until the game's more optimized. That's what I always do, since I'm completely when it comes to tech stuff. It's all a big mystery...one guy keeps crashing while another with a worse machine is fine...

    Go here: http://secunia.com/

Run the tool to test your system.

Post the results for all of us to see here.  That should tell us how up to date you are.  If you don't want to do this, that may tell us something as well.

Why make fun of someone asking for help by giving an example of how dumb someone else is and say that the person asking for help is just as dumb as them?

    seems really rude...

Try being helpful rather than spiteful?

to the OP   I totally understand your frustration, I've had problems running games in the past, have you tried talking to their tech support team? When I played DAOC They had a kick ass support staff, hope they still do at Mythic.
