Latale=Maple evolved

For anyone that lied the premise of Maple Story, a fun 2d side scroller but hated how it tuned into a neverending grind, a cash grab and a cesspool of hacking and negativity, well there a new game coming out that really looks to give hope for jaded and upset Maples.

 

Latale just wrapped up open beta and the overall feeling is that this is one of the better games of this type to come along. There have been a few that have come out in the last year or so(Windslayer, Ghost Online, Trickster, Grand Chase) but most are either awful games to start with or end up having the same problems as Maple Stroy ends up having.

 

The company that brought LaTale stateside is OGPlanet which has some causal games like Albatross 18(Pangya in Korea) thier business model is far less cash oriented than Nexon and looks to get many small transactions rather than getting everything they can from you like Nexon does.

 

Some of the features of Latale that make it stand out:

 

Colorful anime style graphics for fans of that.

A PvP system with great rewards however it's not mandatory to do(unlike Windslayer).

A Crafting system

A Profession System

Items that can be bought either with in game money or through the cash shop

Cash Shop clothes that are permanent when purchased

Guilds that matter(Stat Boost when you reach higher levels)

Pets that Matter(Auto pick up is included as well as special pet powers and the abilty to add stats to your pet that affect your character)

Items that last through game time instead of real time(no more wasted 2x. If it's for 60 mins, you get 60 mins of time, even if you log off and come back hours later)

Active and friendly GM's that actually will talk to you.(Has anyone even seen a GM before they started doing those stupid events, much less be able to talk to one?)

Personal Loot(no more people stealing your drops)

Personal Dungeons(No more losers saying "CC plz" at the good areas)

Quests that matter with great rewards(Unlike Maple the quests here give great exp and money as well as great items)

 

There are alot more things but the best way would be to try it for yourself. The game starts it's official release on the 18th of this month. For people tired of Maple but still want a fun MMO side scroller, this is the best one out there in my opinion. For people that still like Maple, it's at least worth checking out to see theres an alternative to MS. I have told 5 people that are heavy into Maple(1 200, 1 180, 3 170+) and all of them love the style of it and are coming over at launch. Doesn;t mean they will drop MS completely or stop doing Zakum and HT runs, but they are excited to see something that made them happy they way Maple did in the beginning before it went wrong.

The best thing that could happen is this game gets big enough to where Nexon is forced to change thier way of thinking on the way they treat thier playerbase and make Maple Story a better game. That way everyone would win.
