Open Beta update
Good afternoon!
Today has been exciting to say the least! By now many closed beta testers have downloaded the new patch, while more and more new players are registering their accounts and validating their Open Beta keys. We are well aware of the numerous problems associated with the registration process. Most of these are due to the relentless pounding we’ve given the servers. As a reference, war-europe had two million (non-unique) hits between 8am this morning and noon. Flash or not, this is enough traffic to give most any website a run. This traffic was expected and a vital part of the Open Beta. Although it may have been a frustrating experience for many of you, we’ve gained lots of valuable data, further helping our preparations for the Live Launch.
We are expecting the Open Beta servers to be online soon(TM) and when they do, tens of thousands of closed beta testers are standing by the door, only to be followed by myriads of new testers who have managed to validate their keys.
Some common issues
* Open Beta key authentication error: Key has expired. This is caused by a communication problem with our databases. We are working on a solution. This error does not mean that your key is invalid.
* Sometimes patching process will abort the download and one is forced to restart. This is caused by patching optimisation by our technicians. When they implement a change your connection may be severed. If this occurs you should restart the patching process; it will continue from the beginning of file you were last downloading.
* There has been mixed messages regarding players who had previously created accounts at war-europe.com but who was never a part of the closed beta and hence not automatically given Open Beta access. I have previously stated that these players must create new accounts. This is not correct; anyone who has an account at war-europe.com but does not currently have Open Beta access is free enter their Open Beta key here: http://www.war-europe.com/#/myproductkey/. We will clarify this in the news shortly.
We are all working very hard and appreciate your patience. Frustration is understandable, but please remember that every single one of you are beta testers. The primary purpose of this day is to test our systems in preparation for live launch. Despite some delays and technical issues, Open Beta is drawing closer and you will soon be bathing in the blood of your enemies!
Oh, and for those of you who haven’t finished patching yet, the English servers are: Karag Dron, Karag Orrud, Nehekhara, Karak-Hirn, Karak-Norn, Alarille, Burlok and Ellyrioon. They are all on the Core ruleset for now. We’ll try to bring you Open-RvR servers during Open Beta but for now we have no ETA on this.
We are well aware of your frustration and apologise for any unnecessary inconvenience. The Open Beta servers will open soon and WAR will be upon Europe.

Magnus, you and IanC <EU community manager, I believe> responded to many warnings about doing this at the last minute. IanC said 'we know what we are doing, and our site can handle any amount of traffic thrown at it, have faith blah, blah....'
You have lost complete control over what is happening, and you are changing the rules as you go along. I'm reading other sites and I'm seeing people going back to WoW and dumping this game. Can you blame them? Half of these folks are having to create a NEW email address to get the damn email confirmation - are you guys on the happy fags?
There was NO excuse for not arranging this stuff to happen 2 weeks ago, and give yourselves a margin for error . Why? WHY?
People were told they could start logging in @ 8.30am to start the procedure. We have wasted a complete day waiting for this BS, and you think i'ts amusing with your ' oh wow, this has been an exciting day...'?

Yeah thats the bit that pisses me off the most but i had kept trying with my old acount anyway and its been permentantly you are already logged it since i first tried it anyway so has ended up being 6 and 2 3's
GOA say that there will be no worries, the account center will go up at the 13th hour and it will be able to handle anything
13th hour comes and goes and everything goes to shit
GOA blame it on the overload of people trying to access it
the mix up on accountcreation will have piss a lot of people off, spent 5 hour trying t o create an account when all had to do was sign in my previous one, and now theve taken authentication off line, so cant even login at the momment.

update was nice but about 2 hours late. waitning 4 over 4 hours for a meaningfull responces is poor, i do hope you will learn for todays debacle, or live service will se a lot more negative response.
Of course they go and post this on a fansite and continue to leave anyone that is pounding on their system and unaware of which of the many fansites to check with in the dark.
The problem isn't that they are having problems or that they are not handling them very well. It's the fact that they seem unable to properly communicate to their customers using their own website.
And as you say goodwill is being flushed down the toilet faster than used beer at Oktoberfest.

this line for instance takes the biscuit. Why not just call it a continuation of closed beta then, seeing as 10's of thousands of closed beta players are standing by to test and sample a game that they have been playing and testing for months? It says on my pre order that I have guareteed open beta access but now you have closed the reg page again there by denying me access to said closed beta. Time and time and time again you were told this would happen and then when we do get a communication you try and make it sound like its our fault by saying that the server got beat to death by everyone trying to register at the same time. What did you think was going to happen you moron?

Might be seeing sence in this madness..
the authentication is offline,
open beta testers will be joining in waves,
authentication comes on line, a few enter,
first wave joins
authentication is off line
Personally I think they have just gone with what they had, prob after recieving a call from Mythic saying "get it online or else"
So instead of fixing it they discovered that they could still let closed beta testers in bypassing the registration probs as they did not need to go through that hell. Hey, even though 90% of the people who can get in are closed beta testers its still an open beta amirite?
