After 7 hours of downloading a 189mb patch I finally got in don't know what to say. This game is terrible. Granted I only spent about an hour in game but I can't get past the 1980 graphics. I spent that hour trying to find a race/class with a starting area that I could get into but it's not possible. The spell effects and combat animation are absolutely awfull, I don't care how good the gameplay is. I've seen better looking free to play games and DAOC has better graphics than this so I don't know what happened here. If you have a 10 year old laptop or a 25.00 garage sale computer that won't even run WoW than this game is for you.
Mythic thinks they are going to compete with WoW with this..... I don't think so...... Not a chance!
I take back everything I've said about AOC..... At least they can add content and fix the PVP and at this point I'll patiently wait for that, but Warhammer couldn't fix their issues without rebuilding the game.
For those that are loving it i'm glad you found a game for you but it certainly isn't for me.

i'm at 54% and i've only JUST been able to patch, it's going very quickly.
Doh.. he probably didnt get the anti aliasing to work... if he did.. then I hope theres still hope for him

Ah those were the days.. I remember when the stand up arcade version used to be down for 14 hours on patch days..

You're right.. Where is the anti aliasing? I couldn't find it. If there's some hidden advanced graphics menu by all means let me know. As far as I saw I had the draw maxed as well but still only saw like 25 feet in front of me. Anything you can share that would get this game at least looking good enough so I can try the gameplay would be appreciated.

You can force some advanced graphic settings in your graphics card control panel. By default it will probably be set to application controlled so you create a profile for WAR forcing things to where you want them.
For the OP I'd guess there are issues with your graphics card/settings. The game looks a lot better than WOW.
The movies I've seen look good but the pictures in that folder look more like DAOC screenshots

I was thinking the samething about the grpahics but i have a feeling there going to add more options for graphics at launch....i dont think i have even seen the DX10 option. Doesnt matter the fucking game is so fun.
I thought the same thing when I first played it. Took me a while to roll a toon and actually play it.
I got into my first RvR scenerio and really enjoyed it. Also got a chance to play around with R40 templates and was pretty amazed at how well balanced PvP combat was and how much fun seiges are. Seige weapons are extremely fun.
like some others pointed out, you can force AA. Some ATI boards cant do this for whatever reason, but nVidia boards have been working flawlessly (notice I bolded "some" in to help prevent the rabid ATI fans from attacking it)
I will say its not a grand PvE game like some of the others on the market, but its a very fun PvP game.
If your intentions are doing nothing but PvE, dancing around in the center of hub towns with your hot gear knowing that people will never know how badly you suck because you dont have to worry about engaging in PvP.. this isnt the game.

Honestly, if you're judging the game based on the rank 1 attacks there's obviously something wrong with your thought process. Pop up the personal settings menu and click the advanced button when you scroll through it, by default WAR will set it to as high as it thinks your computer can handle.
So your head is either stuck up in the clouds wanting RL resolution as a standard in games, or everything has been turned down based on your system specs. Increase your resolution to as high as you can handle, crank the graphics ingame and take a look.
Lacking that, at least play until you get to the second tier of gameplay. If you still can't do that, perhaps MMO's aren't your thing and I'm sure I speak for more than just me when I say I'll enjoy not seeing you around.

PS: 7 hours for 189mb? Get a faster net connection and download from a closer source next time. Perhaps then there won't be any alternative motives influencing your decision making process (or lack thereof)

i'll try it again later tonight i think..if a game doesn't grab me right away its not really worth playing for me..i hate being told to get to some high level for the real so called fun...it should be fun from the get go...well here's hoping in can get into it later on.
