Smashing your head against the wall repeatedly is free as well, but I doubt I will be trying that anytime soon. There are a lot of ways to market a game. Word of mouth is lame. If they were really serious about resurrecting this game, they could start out by not charging $40 for it. Hell, LoTRO is a far better game by all accounts, and it is only $20.
Analogy is 2 stars out of 5.
VG isn't $40..... its $12.59 and a far cry better than LOTRO imo.

Well WoW's numbers crush the competition, but I think you will find many at this site who don't think that numbers necessarily equate to a better game.

This site is also dominated by people who have "been there done that" with WoW[and every other game for that matter] and are looking for something... anything new. Many of which think the pinnacle of MMO design was sitting around one spot in a dungeon waiting for the random chance a rare mob would spawn over 10 hours and that it somehow took skill to do that.
It is hard to argue that good games grow their subsrciber base and bad games see see their subscriptions fall.

Tell that to the ten times as many people who are playing LoTRO compared to VG.
If everybody else is selling it for less than $15, SOE should do the same. Instead, they are trying to sucker people into paying full price for it.
