The Steve Jobs says: The iPhone is the Best Portable Device For Playing Games On

"Now you can make a pretty good argument that it is the best portable device for playing games on - and a whole new class of games," he said.

I mean c'mon guys, Steve Jobs said it himself, so you know it HAS to be the truth. I think Nintendo and Sony should just bend over on their own before Apple forces them to.

Well consoles are not portable game devices per say, they would need an integrated monitor and power supply to be called portable game devices. Anyways Steve is crazy if he thinks a phone is the best portable game device over a real laptop which can play all games way better and with more features. Is he gone crazy over the years or what.

Who let you in the VIP section?

    Portable shmortable.

Let me just ditch my 42" flat screen and downsize to a 6".Nevermind that the psp and ds are portable game systems and do EXACTLY what they are supposed to right out of the box.

A new iphone? Not so much if its a new generation.

I will NEVER purchase another apple device. My 15 gig ipod that i paid an arm and a leg for wont even boot up now or hold a battery charge for more than 45 minutes.Anything Apple is just overpriced anyway imho.

Jobs is just arrogant.I do wish i had bought stock in that a long time ago though.

    What is your physical limit?

A laptop is nowhere near as a portable as something like a DS or PSP. Now imo the DS is the best by far but the iphone doesnt even come close to the PSP either.

Hold on Snow Leopard, imma let you finish, but Windows had one of the best operating systems of all time.

If the Powerball lottery was like Lotro, nobody would win for 2 years, and then everyone in Nebraska would win on the same day.
And then Nebraska would get nerfed.-pinkwood lotro fourms

I don't agree with him if that's the case. Isn't it phones should only be used for communications purposes only?

think maybe in part why the E ee pc is so popular. A portable device that allows you to surf the net, email,  does allow for some game playing and of course skype is on there

Oh by the by granted even asus 2 gig surf small screen beats an internet phone hands down . That was one of the reasons i ended up getting the eepc the screen was better then a phone size lcd.

Agree about the glasses comment  nice find op !

Things that stick out for me are...

    1. iPod Touch is a nice device, but the iPhone is largely just a proprietary handset attached at the hip with AT&T's contract sales. Apple and AT&T mall booths aren't game stores, so that's kind of a problem when comparing the iPhone to the DS or PSP.

    2. While EA has gotten behind the iPhone, Sony or Microsoft never will. That's to be expected, but Sony and Microsoft serve important functions for their own gaming devices by acting as publishers for third-party developers and housing important first-party developers and IPs as well. I don't see Apple becoming a serious game publisher for the iPhone/iPod, or buying up a Bungie, a Lionhead or a Rare.

That said, the iPhone and iPod Touch are as powerful as the Dreamcast I've heard, so definitely decently powerful. I haven't gotten a chance to game on one yet. Whatever niche it finds between DS and PSP might be contingent upon how creative developers can be with the touch interface.

But Jobs has definitely shot off at the mouth a lil early.
