Just to let you know Darkfall onlines game engine is better than World of Warcrafts. The reason the graphix look like they're from the first Everquest is because they have to keep the rendering down to keep the latancy down. Thus allowing sweet features such as 200+ player battles and a huge ass map.

Graphics is not what I would consider the foundation of a good game engine, to be honest.
If I remember right they are using an improved version of EvEs engines, designed by the same person whom originally designed their servers. But that information was from when they first started making this game back in 2001. So no idea if it is true or not.

Df's engine has been completely build up from the ground, what you are probably confusing with is the fact that DF uses a server cluster, and EVE is the only other game that uses that.
DF's cluster does have a few perks over EVE's though, but that's to be expected, EVE being out a long time now
To some. But some enjoy a game only if it has appealing graphics. I myself will play a game if it doesn't, however I will play a lot longer if the graphics are appealing. These graphics look like the kind I was looking for, HD Quality like!

Because you get over 700 people sitting there spamming links to contracts and for sale messages all the time as well as a couple hundred more passing through that place as its a hub system.

I doubt there's been a large network game, or even large network of any kind, built in fifteen years that doesn't use server clusters. Vaxcluster was released in 1984. It's a well established technology.

So read what the OP is saying, as you are not disagreeing... The way the graphics scale is all about how the engine works.

@ the posters who complain about graphics not being good enough..
Graphics DO NOT make or break a game, GAMEPLAY and CONTENT DO.. Look at Age of Conan as an example, awesome graphics, high latency, lots of lag spikes and low fps, and thats with a decent system. It fails in content though in every way.. how many play it?? not as many as people think, yes it sold a lot due to graphics being awesome, how many remained once they found out gameplay was junk? a hell of a lot.. this is the most recent proof availible that CONTENT and GAMEPLAY are what matters, NOT graphics.
