7 free days for all beta testers

From war-europe.com

Dear all,

More than 100,000 European players have now created characters and launched enthusiastically into the violent and bloody battlefields of the Old World every evening. Despite this, for many of you and for us as well, the launch of the open beta has left a bitter taste. While it is true that the purpose of Beta Testing a game is to indeed expose problems before a game launches, the launch did not happen anywhere near as smoothly as we had planned.

Because of this I have decided to offer seven free days to all of the beta testers. If you decide to continue your adventures in WAR, and we certainly hope you do, you will be credited on your account from the 18th of September and will be able to take part in the adventure without any regret. By the beginning of next week, we expect many more to join us as we open the gates for our Head Start, and we look forward to welcoming all of you in the Warhammer world.

Best regards,

Ghislaine Le Rhun

GOA CEO

Wohooo!!!

    You may want to consider changing the title of this thread to;

7 days free for all EU open beta testers

    It's a little misleading.

To headstart or not headstart - that is the question!

I have friday off work. If I put on my headstart key I can play on monday, presumably this voids the 7 days free? If not then bonza! Else I will simply get my 7 days free on thursday and enter my ingame item but not use the headstart.

Note: PlayNC will refuse to allow you access to your account if you forget your password and can't provide a scanned image of the product key for the first product you purchased..... LOL

It would have been better to simply have the account management working, but at least they are trying to do the right thing here for their early customers.

Only for Europeans? That's a bit discriminating.

I believe we did a lot more, no offense.

We didn't get to play as much. We faced way too many maintenances.

WoW was giving out free time because they were trying not to piss off the players who couldn't login to play the game because the servers were far to congested it wasn't being they were feeling generous that's for sure.

I like that the CEO is taking the time to comment personally without being condescending.

It's a nice shift from his last public letter.

I dont get it, so we get the headstart on monday for se, which is3 days early, then 7 days free, then we have to start paying? Do we not get a free month like every other MMO?

  • aithieelaithieel Member Posts: 232

You can play 7 days with nothing, no entering game code, choosing sub etc... I understand it like it.

Yes, I am surprised too. Hopefully it is a sign of things to come from GOA. Maybe they are changing for the better.

The language of the press release is unambiguous, how is it hard to understand? They are giving all members of the European beta community (such as those hit by the GOA fiasco who couldn't play OB as they should have been able to) a 7 day credit when they plug in their retail keys. So you will have the standard free month, and another 7 days for a total of 5 weeks of initial play time before the subscription kicks in.

There is only a small problem, GOA handed out over 250,000 open beta keys, yet they say just over 100,000 accounts were created and had characters made on them.

So that means around 50% of keys were actually successfully used, so does the other 50% get the free 7 days or just those who were lucky enough to get their account sorted with open beta access?

It should have been a free 7 days to ALL players who registered an accound by the 30th September, this on the other hand is just another PR by GOA to make people stop cancelling their pre-order and try and get some positive spin on a awful open beta launch.

I am an American too, and seeing as how i (and a lot of others)  had no problems i see no reason for us to get compensated.

too many maintenances??  it was beta what did you expect?  the server to be up 24/7 and deliver you snack foods and toilet paper?

the missing link in a chain of destruction.

All spelling and typographical errors are based soely on the fact that i just dont care. If you must point out my lack of atention to detail, please do it with a smile.

I'm sorry. Some of my fellow Americans don't think or read before they run their mouths, hence 8 years of Bush Jr. and posts like the one you quoted.

According to the GOA email confirmation the EU Collectors Edition HS now runs from 14th Sep to 1st Oct. Only after this period would you need to input your retail key.

    Haha good one....

I hope the Americans have learned from Bush' period at least and don't follow a certain Mac Cokain.

Anyway if some americans are angry about this, then they need to grow a brain and get a clue, because the europeans who wanted to try out the WAR OB badly got screwed over completely by the insane amount of problems GOA threw at them.

Well hopefully that 7-day thing won't be needed after that one, else the WAR eu players are in for some doo doo days.

    lol, it's true!

This is why I went to the US beta ;)

It's always the same. The EU gets shafted when it comes to betas, and when we finally get a beta, it sucks ass.

And then sometimes the retail game has lots of issues too.
