I would but probably not for the reason you would think, it is not to get to the end-game, I find that boring anyway, it is so I can go anywhere in the game world without worrying about autolosing because the mob is too high level, I hate being barred from areas because I am too weak. The only downside would be exploring lower level areas would be boring because I am practically invincible to the mobs, now if there were only a button that made everything the same level I was.
Don't you worry little buddy. You're dealing with a man of honor. However, honor requires a higher percentage of profit
I would only do it in a beta to test different classes at max level.
I don't like grinding, but I don't want to skip content. My ideal MMO would be one without levels, so content would be available to everyone at any point. In that case it might be fun to skip the grind, but only if you knew how to play the class once you got there.
In a level based game if you skip the leveling you skip the whole game , 1- max level is the game , the main beef of the game , the end game is just that ,the end so skipping to then would be wasting almost the whole game and pretty much spitting in the game makers face . Like saying " I dont want to see the game you spent sooo much time making i just want to get to the end and best loots" .
To me the "getting there" is one of the best parts ,yes i love end game raiding/pvp etc a lot , but i also love the journey and the adventure i prefer skill based sandbox game where there is no true "end game".

I mostly agree with you.
The only disagreement I have is about the ending. Raiding is NOT acceptable and spitting in my face. It is telling me, see all the time and things you do for nothing because you don't raid. This is like turning me away of Valhalla because as an arrow pierce my heart, I experience a stroke attack and it was judge that I died from that stroke, the fact the arrow cause it is irrelevant. The ending can ruins a whole movie.

I would skip it in a heartbeat. Leveling is by for the most boring part of any MMO and I absolutely despise it. Now, if there were more leveless games, we wouldn't have to deal with this problem would we?
Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic Played: SWG, Guild Wars, WoW Playing: Eve Online, Counter-strike Loved: Star Wars Galaxies Waiting for: Earthrise, Guild Wars 2, anything sandbox.

There's a problem with the premise that part of the fun is lvl'ing.
Most MMO games entice you to lvl as fast as possible.
Never had I felt this way in a single player console or PC game.
Nicer items, better graphics, more fun mobs, raids, fun events..all of those are usually more present at the higher lvl's. The business model of MMO's is to make you lvl, so you keep paying the bill.
Your argument therefore doesn't make sense in MMO.

That's one thing that's completely idiotic about most level-based games? Why is a wolf in one area 100 times as powerful as a wolf in another area.
I'd rather see games, even level based games, designed so that most regions have a mixture of difficulty levels. For instance, stick close to the road, and you'll probably be okay. You might get unlucky and get waylaid by bandits, or a hungry bear, but you can probably handle that. But don't even think about going near that tower over there in the distance unless you are Jesus himself with a gatling gun.

1st you level up your character then you level up your gear and once you are just about level they give you new levels and new gear.
See how it works? If everyone was able to skip class leveling and gear leveling they'd stop playing because it really doesn't have an end game accept thru leveling.
"The liberties and resulting economic prosperity that YOU take for granted were granted by those "dead guys"
Nah i couldn't skip the skip the leveling part because while i'm leveling is when i learn how to become tight with the skills, spells, abilities etc... Its like playing one of your friends toons that u have never played before, u may now of the character but that dosent mean will know how to play it well and the reason u would not be as good as he/she is with the character is because he/she has tuned the character through killing mobs using trial & error and because of that he/she knows what works well and what may not work as well. Basically even if u could skip the leveling u would still have to put in time learning how to play the character, so u cant get around the repetition of the game good question tho!
Lets say in War or Wow or Aoc you could click an OPTIONAL make max level button after character creation would you do it?
No, definitly not, MMORPG use to be about the journey, but I do know it is fading and it seems to become more and more just a online game where people rush to cap lvl.
no not to max level as you don't get to enjoy every upgrade you get, where you can spend x or y gold and all that. But a faster journey I wouldn't mind. I mean when I'm playing for 5 hours and looking what I've achieved, and it's just a some bars in an xp bar and that's just rubbish. I think sometimes there should be casual and hardcore servers.
I would prefer a game that doesn't have the standard level system. Magic of the Gods recently abolished their level system. They are redoing their combat system.
In the meantime, nobody is just completely invincible because they are 100 levels higher than you or something. And nobody goes around calling everybody else 'noob' like in so many games, especially Runescape.

So with your logic, you're not playing a game to have fun.
Most MMO's "attempt" to give you an experience, what do you pay $15 months for?
Subject isn't about singleplayer games nor console games.
You don't deserve any of those things if you didn't work for it.
The only one i thouroughly enjoyed leveling up on was Guild-Wars, because there was litterarly no grinding involved, and getting max level wasnt too painful. I also enjoyed SWG Pre-CU, progression in the skill templates, mostly because they wherent really levels XD. But although ive become "sick of leveling up" I would much rather do that than skip the entire game just for some highend items, that is so pointless and you may as well play single player shooters. So lets put that into perspective. (Player A) Logs into world. (Player A is level 80 Grats, its basically the same as lvl 1 because you never did anything!) (Player A runs around sayning "im l33t") (The game becomes pointless because it is)... Well both my hate of grinding and my hates for insta levels, I will not play a MMO again until one comes out with 0 leveling, but still has skills/ect/ that need to be trained similar to SWG. Mostly in part to why i am keeping an eye on darkfall.
For me,if you dont like leveling a character you dont like mmorpgs. mmorpgs are about creating a character, level it and have fun in the end game. for me it's all a complete pack, you shouldnt remove any part of it.
Lets say in War or Wow or Aoc you could click an OPTIONAL make max level button after character creation would you do it?
Nope. Would make it boring and give you a system similar to Guild Wars. Would be too easy and therefore wouldn't keep me interested in the game NEARLY as long as it is going to right now.
A game like WoW for example (and I enjoyed WoW) the target is the endgame content. It always has been. If you all recall WoW was the first MMO to really lighten up the grind. So in a game like that levels are simply a barrier to the actual game because WoW really starts at level cap. Given the fact that WoW leveling content is extremely shallow "kill task" you really miss nothing by skipping. As a matter of fact, Blizzard is offering free levels as a reward for their recruit a friend.
Older games like EQ and Asherons Call being level cap wasn't really the point, it was the journy through the game that matered.
Character developement is an important part of an RPG but just making people jump through hoops just because, isn't in keeping with what an RPG is. If all a game has to offer a player is random, shallow kill task and collection chores IMHO it best to just skip over it and get to the point so to speak.
The mechanic of the "level" isn't a required aspect either. Very few RPG's use the rigid class / level system. Most use a hybrid profession / skill based system.
MMORPG's have boiled the class system down to the bare basics, stripped content down to idiot proof chores and made levels a barrier a gameplay rather then a progressive enhancement.

Leveling is a large part of the game. I enjoy quest leveling as much, if not more, than the end-game.
When I want to skip the leveling I fire up UT or TF2 or CS, etc...
Nah i couldn't skip the skip the leveling part because while i'm leveling is when i learn how to become tight with the skills, spells, abilities etc... In WAR yeh cause the only good part of it is the end level RVR.
You can do this in Guild Wars but thats just for PvP only and can not be used to PvE with.
I think that it's a good idea if you only want to PvP and not doing any mob grinding to reach the max level.
But such a character should only be able to be used in instanced PvP areas and not in any free for all PvP type of games like Age of Conan.
During the Warhammer Closed beta we were given high level templates and I hated it.
I really appreciate being drip fed my skills and learning to use things a level or two at a time.
In SWG where you level up once and can then respec to any profession wasn't too bad, because the amount of skills you get is relatively small.
I guess it really depends on the game, many skills and I wouldn't want it, just a few and it wouldn't be too bad, but I'd only do it for an alt.
I buy a game to actually play it, why would I want to spend my money on somthing that I just go straight to the end?
When I said i had "time", i meant virtual time, i got no RL "time" for you.

All the mmos from like 2003/2004 onwards you can get max level very quickly anyway.
