Custom Building...Which Vid Card

 I am currently thinking about building a new computer... I have found all the parts needed on Tigerdirect.com...  The motherboard is PCI express ready but I am unsure as to what vid card to buy.... It doesn't have to be PCI express, in fact I have been looking at the Nvidia 6800 ultra...but the thing is, I have never really used a ATI card... but hear really good things about them from magazines  and such...

I do not want to spend over $350ish for the card but I will spend close to that. If any of you are veteran builders or just educated on both sides ATI/Nvidia  feel free to post.

    I would recommend spending the $450 and getting the awesome nVidia GeForce FX 6800 Ultra. This card is an animal.

    However, you can get the ATI Radeon X800 for significantly less (Anywhere from $50 to $100). It isn't as good, but it is still pretty good.

    I wasn't disagreeing with you Drak, I agree fully actually, buying a 6800 Ultra for my new system, I just saud that cause me and Torx we're talking elsewhere (my guild forums) as I read the post here...

    I have a friend building a computer for me(good thing, I am clueless).

     

    That friend have some principles, althought I have no idea what they are, here is what he always does on computers worlds.

     

    - He never play a MMORPG because he dont agree with the monthle fee.

    - He never build computer with AMD.

    - He never use ATI.

     

    I dont know if that help you, I just *shrug*, play MMORPGs with the computer he build me! *grin*

    If you don't want to spend around $500 or more than maybe get the Geforce 6800 gt I heard its a great card also. I personally in my new system am getting the ultra since it looks like the best video card out on the market today. The gt I heard is also a good video card and can be overclocked well too but I personally don't oc...

    Tell him that he is stupid for never using AMD. AMD makes much, much better processors then Intel.

    Also, ATI is ok, but I also go nVidia. Tell him he is right on that.
