A MMORPG Vet lookin' for a game recommendation.

First off, thanks for lookin forum type people. I' Balth, have played many a MMORPG in my day including.

UO
EQ
DAoC
AO
CoH
L2
RoE
RO
and misc. others.

However, these days, I seem to be a little indecisive as to what to spend my cash on, as I can only in good concious pay for one MMORPG at a time.

So here are my preferences

1) Quite a bit of content, especially of varied types, I like to think that I'm not stuck doing only one thing and that there are at least a few other productive things I could be doing.

2) Items, tons of them, with some truly unique looks or properties. I just really like the reward for doing something truly awesome, or that glee of seeing something get dropped that you have never seen before.

3) RP. I am an RPer, and I prefer a game that can well accomidate that

4) Customization! Not just physical, Im talking about truly customizable. Knowing that I am not issentialy identical to every other member of my class at the same level is very important to me, I want to have a direct hand in the growth and powers of my character.

Honestly, I am heavily considering giving AO another try. It was a while ago when I played it and have been doing free trials every couple of months.

Well you tried many but the question is how much of each have you played.

Truth be told if you played many of this games for a few weeks and dropped them you have seen nothing at all.

MMORPGs can't be judged on anything less then 1 month as far as i am concerned.

Content wise mostly older games have the more content simply because in MMORPG stuff gets added regularly and with expansions.

Brand new games always suffer from lower content.I would say EQ has the most content with so many expansions and add on over the years.

Item wise .Again games like EQ seems to have most of the different loot.

RP.Good luck on that most mmorpg see the RIP in RP in under 6 months.

Customization.Some of the newer games seems to have the best customization.Best i seen so far is CoH.Other ones worth mentioning are shadowbane and SWG.

I'm interested and looking forward to playing SoR right now, and I believe it offers most of what you are looking for. You never know till you check it out though, and it may not be for you. Here is the official site;

Saga of Ryzom

You will be able to try it out in open beta which should be available in a couple of weeks. They also have special open weekend events. I did get a chance to help test in open beta back in June of this year and liked what I saw in addition to what the game could be with promised content upon official release.

You may also want to check out Dark and Light, release date 12/30/04 and Wish, release date 2/01/05. You have several other mmorpgs to look at due to be release this fall and early next year, including of course Everquest 2 and World of Warcraft.
