Guys, the "Critical Error" is 99% of the time due to your firewall, router, what-have-you, stopping the connection to the server. When the game doesn't get access to the servers b/c of firewall or any other reason (usually after patching b/c the firewall no longer recognizes the exe), once the engine has loaded, it kicks out that "Critical error". It's all due to your firewall, alt-tab out, or close the game otherwise, give your firewall permission to allow the game to connect, and the problem is solved. It happens to me every time there is any small patch, or the game can't connect to the servers for whatever reason, and has been happening since early beta. For whatever reason that is how the client handles not being able to connect to the servers for whatever reason, many people have brought it to the attention of Mythic and it is intentional.
Nope it is not. I put WAR on the shelf over this really annoying shit. And god knows I tried with firewall off, virusscanner not even installed, all other small softwares running upon startup removed... Everything. I don't want to bitch about it but I had to move on in fact to a different MMO.
Just for the record the nail in the coffin for me was not this critical error but those rubberband laggs.

each person is reporting several ways to fix it
Mine I did 2 things to solve the problem
1) Unplugged the router and plugged it after 2 minutes
2) called my isp and accused them of blocking my internet access and throttling the speeds
they checked and sai all was ok at there end
Either way my isp did something or rebotting router helped
try it out
Powering off the router and then back on worked for me as well. Thanks!
