Avery: Going forward WAR will be a mjor blow to the remaining AoC subs. Going forward Darkfall is going to be a major blow to the PvP crowd in a lot of games. Going forward, AoC still is an empty hand-held world lacking content in critical areas. I enjoyed AoC for a week. It offered no risk and my heart never sped up one time playing it. The game was a major disappointment. Anyone won't pay to play a Funcom developed MMO deserves what they get from this point on. They have ALL been warned by now.
I felt the same way about war..
As did I. WAR is no better. It runs a lot better, but the game itself is even LESS innovative than AoC.
AoC and WAR are both epic letdowns, though I had much higher expectations of AoC. WAR is what I thought it was going to be.
But my points still remain true. WAR will impact what is left of the AoC crowd. Darkfall will impact both of their PvP crowds. And Funcom is right up there with SOE as far as being one of the most despised MMO developers/publishers on the planet.
I hope Fallen Earth does better than all of them, in all honesty .

thats a bit biased...you take good news in stride but bad news for face value.....interesting.
Moving forward, we have our system coming in.
Moving forward we have lots of new fixes happening and many, many improvements.
Moving forward I feel that 80 % of the classes are balanced for PvP - and thats a big leap over what it was.
Moving forward I am enjoying the game even more and feeling like its worthy of a sub.
looking back Gaute did steer the game in some very decent directions too.
Yes he steered the game into an Iceberg and sunk the ship. This game could have been a great game, but bad direction and management led it to be subpar at best. Since GG was a co-founder and the guy in charge of this game he was 100% to blame for its failure.
Moving forward have you ever seen a new captain manage to save a ship thats already underwater?
Funcom knowingly sold us an incomplete game. Period. IDGaF who they fire, who they promote, or what new games they make, they will never see another dime from me.

For Funcom to ever be succefull I think they need to loose the Funcom name. Too many people associate Funcom with negative thoughts now.

So...all you knob slobs that act like this is the second coming, are you going to actually go back and pay to play the game? I didn't think so. You made your mind up about the game and/or listened to your buddy say it sucked and jumped on the bandwagon like so many blind sheep that you would likely never play again. Funcom is one of the largest game developers around. A mediocre launch won't bring them down. IIRC there were NO MMO's that launched as perfectly as you all seem to think. MMO's are an evolving game genre always have been always will be. Some are worse than others at getting it right quickly, others aren't. Take SWG for instance. Good amount of subscribers then NGE then very low subs then constant evolution since and subs have actually increased quite a bit since. AoC had a rough launch and the dev's dreams were bigger than their means at the time. That certainly doesn't mean those dreams can't see fruition as it evolves. Oh God! Windows Vista had a bad launch MS MUST FAIL NOW!!!!!! Get a clue people.
The only thing that FAILED was you with this post.
With Gaute's resignation, myself and a lot of other people who bought the game and quit because of all the lies and simple fact that the game sucked and the game needing at least another year of development have finally been vindicated. All the people that were banned off of the official forums and the forums here are finally vindicated. It is a sweet day indeed when those that have been called trolls stand up with their heads held high and say, "HA, WE TOLD YOU SO!" because the company itself proved us right.
The sad part is, FANBOIS, we still love you. We are all consumers and it is us comsumers as a whole that got screwed. Now with all the drama over and the trolls proven right, we as a community can move forward together, supporting Morrison, and hopefully he can turn AoC into the game it should have been all along.
So this means you will start playing again? Again didn't think so. And I believe that most of you are underestimating the size of Funcom's bank accounts Hence the reference to Sony/MS. If anyone can point me to a SINGLE company that went bankrupt because their game launched poorly then I will retract my statement. It's all meant to point out that these screams of vindication are futile since you gain nothing because Funcom won't go bankrupt or whatever.
And for the record I DO NOT play AoC, so Funcom Fanbois I am not. I have just heard this argument from too many people about every single MMO ever released lol.
Sigil went bankrupt with the launch of Vanguard and assets were sold to Sony, debts paid off, and Sigil shut down.
Actually no. Sigil was originally partnered with MS. However they bought back their stake so to speak and sign a deal with SOE to publish. Later SOE consumed the assests of Sigil to keep everything in house. Much like SOE and others have done with many smaller companies. Selling out is not going bankrupt.
DUDE, just be quiet now. Doing what they did is called going BANKRUPT. SIGIL was broke. McQuaid couldn't raise any more capital. If you were following the ordeal, Smed did what he did the way he did it to protect Brad McQuaid, his two decade old friend. Smed has also said if it hadn't been for McQuaid, he wouldn't have gotten Sony involved with the collapse of Sigil. Notice, Smed let PE/P2 sink and didn't go in and take over Gods and Heroes:Rome Rising and Star Trek Online. Sony had pre-order boxes on the shelves for G&H and the game was a month from launch when it got shut down.
DUDETTE (?), you have some major leaps and jumps here to form your opinions and conclusions, which are laregly incorrect, although most are actually based on things that are true, yet they are mixed up with your facts.
Keltic is a lot closer to the truth about what happened with Sigil than you are. I was there.
You're also all wet about everything you said about Perpetual Entertainment. I was also there during Gods and Heros, the games implosion, Perpetual's frustration and melt down and the eventual acquisition of STO by CS.

i think that if AOC brings out some steady content, and stay original and creative then they will see people return.
And wasn't Craig Morrison the guy who turned AO around after Godager pulled off the same crap with it at launch?
In any case, AoC is gonna take off from here. Seriously, Godager was a horrible director, the only reason I quit AoC is because Godager had no idea what the hell he was doing, he was truly incompetent at leading the AoC team. He ran AoC to the ground, and started digging.
Now this is good news because it is a signal from Funcom that they know they have screwed this game up, even if they would never admit it. Hopefully they can now patch it up to be worthy of the name Conan.
Will we finally have(?):
"Know, O Prince, that between the years when the oceans drank Atlantis and the gleaming cities, and the years of the rise of the Sons of Aryas, there was an Age undreamed of, when shining kingdoms lay spread across the world like blue mantles beneath the stars - Nemedia, Ophir, Brythunia, Hyberborea, Zamora with its dark-haired women and towers of spider-haunted mystery, Zingara with its chivalry, Koth that bordered on the pastoral lands of Shem, Stygia with its shadow-guarded tombs, Hyrkania whose riders wore steel and silk and gold. But the proudest kingdom of the world was Aquilonia, reigning supreme in the dreaming west. Hither came Conan, the Cimmerian, black-haired, sullen-eyed, sword in hand, a thief, a reaver, a slayer, with gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth, to tread the jeweled thrones of the Earth under his sandaled feet."
And will this new director understand that he should use CONAN and not some made up pin-up girl to promote this game?
Everyone knew this would happen a few days after playing AoC.
------
Now to the next burned out thing with NO decent end game in MMORPG. The game that will break all records of attrition rates in subs after 6 weeks of playing.
But shht don't wake up the fans because they don't realize it ... yet.
What does itr matter if he's resigned or not??? the person who takes his place will still have to follow the orders of the COMPANY and people that want/make the money from the game..
I guess all the fanboys and narrow-minded people call this "GOOD NEWS WOW!!!!".
When you dig in a little deeper, you will understand that this is probably the last straw Funcom has to offer. If this one fails, then all that is left is a sweet lullaby.

Drive the game even further into the ground?
No, this is good news because it will (hopefully) steer this game in a better direction.

Why does it matter if that turns out to be the case? It could be good or bad, either way whatever happens life will continue on. People will find a new game to play, which means it's a win win scenario.

Too little, too late for FC. It's best opportunity for AoC has long since left.
"I have only two out of my company and 20 out of some other company. Regardless of the situation we don't know all the facts. We don't know what Gaute was responsible for or what is going on behind the scenes. All I know is a man that was very passionate about the industry is now leaving.
I feel sorry for him to be leaving on this kind of note, and I wish him the best. Games of this size aren't made by one person. You all are using him as a scapegoat which was probably their intention.
Too little, too late for FC. It's best opportunity for AoC has long since left.
To little to late for what ?
To re-attract all the pissed off people who bought a broken, unfinished game four months ago, who were banned by incompetent GMs for random and inexplicable reasons, who were banned from the forums for voicing displeasure with the state of the game they had just purchased, who had their credit cards fraudulently billed after attempting to unsubscribe, that sort of thing. There's more, but you get the idea.

Give ya one guess who drove it on to that reef in the first place.
