1 Funcom now has the best game director available for the company. 2 Funcom stock is now on the rise and will soon come back to prelaunch levels. 3 The PvP patch will get old players back and fill up the servers during non primetime hours 4 The increased population will result in better forum reviews resulting in an increase in the playerbase until the expansions and Xbox360 releases 5 Finishing the PvP patch will now result in the last battle of balancing meaning AoC is that much closer to be finished!
Umm... Funcom stock is PLUNGING. It will take a long long time to even make it start going back up, it hasn't even leveled out yet. And their publisher took multimillion dollar dip too.
The PvP patch is a joke. They can't even do player sieges with FPS over 10, and thats capped at 20 some people.
AoC was never on top, and it never will be. This is what companies get for lying and stealing from customers.
Ummm have you seen the state of the stockmarket in general?Like in the past few days? There is not 1 stock that is unaffected in the world.
I mean really saying it is plunging is not news every stock is plunging. The market is in a down cycle ALL OVER THE WORLD.

Funny how the rest of the economy didn't drop like a rock when Funcoms' Q2 report came out. Yet Funcoms' did. And has continued to fall rapidly since then.

Ive been watching a steady decline in my 401k to the tune of $50,000.00 us.FC is not the only company affected by this trend as much as you would like it to be this just isnt the case at all.
Im sorry that your just angry at them but the global economy HAS been in a downward spiral most of this year.Any company traded on any stock exchange has been affected 1 way or another.
He has one thing right, this game is nothing like WoW or EQ2... Those are actually playable games and would be insulted to be called similiar to AoC
I went back to EQ2 and the game is so much more fun now that I realize how bad a game can really be... Sometimes it takes jumping at the 'grass is greener' stance to realize how wrong it can be...

Fine, just show me that the economy dropped the same drastic amount as Funcom on the day the Q2 was released. Sorry, although the economy is lousy, it is not the reason for Funcoms' stocks dropping. But you keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better.
Originally posted by ILOVEFUNCOM I can understand your pessimism with regards to AoC but believe me if things improve it could rival WoW after all what other game has 50 servers?
Warhammer Online:Age of Reckoning.
And I reckon AOC is a lost cause. Why would my friends and I even give the game a look? No-one I know is raving about it - they are all playing WAR. Including the only guy I know who played AOC.
The only way for AOC to rival WOW is to go Free to Play. If it was Free to play I would try it. Otherwise I have better things to spend my money on. Like food & toilet paper
AoC would be a good game if it is a single player game but not a MMO.
As a MMO, it probably make lots of money already in the first month than a sinlge player game, right? So it accomplish its mission! It is a successful game
lol i think that was there goal, make all the money they could the frist months, from what ive heard alot of ppl has quited including all my friends that bought it

Ok whatever Funcom is the only company in the entire world of publicly traded stocks to to suffer a "stock plunge" the day it released its q2 report.
Yeah that NEVER happens to companies when they announce that their earnings are less than expected.
1st you admit the economy is lousy. But its not the reason FC stocks is dropping? So are you positive that if the economy was doing great this would still be true? Are you saying that it will NEVER recover even if the market improves?
But according to you Funcom is the ONLY company in the world to lose value in its publicly traded stock due to reported earnings loss.
I could show you my own personal 10k loss on the very day that FC released its q2 report but that is a bit personal.I dont even own FC stock in 1 way or another.
At best, AOC will end up in the same shoes as Vangard after it is fixed. UNLESS, Funcom somehow get the game on X-Box 360 (polished) like originally planned.

Funcom is down over 80% since it's high in April. It is down over 50% since it announced it's second quarter earnings on August 14. The stock market is down about 2% since April, and is basically Even since August 14th (even with 2 really bad days this week).
Despite the really bad day this week that got so much media attention, the overall stock market has not moved much this year.
The CFO in August, and now a co-founder, have both bailed on the company. The stock has not had a positive stock day since it released it's 2nd quarter numbers in August. The stock has had probably 10-15 days where it declined more than 10% in a day. The dow has had 1 day where it dropped 4%
The overall stock market has very little to do with the plunge, or severity of the plunge in Funcom's stock. The initial plunge in May/June was because players were reporting concerns about the game despite it's 'great' launch. This gave the investor's a clue that the game wasn't going to succeed. The Aug 14 report just confirmed it to those who don't follow forums, or didn't believe the severity of the problems reported by players.
The stock is at rock bottom right now. It can't go below $7 unless it reports bankruptcy, or a severe drop in cash-on-hand, which it won't do until November 15th, at which time the stock will get pummeled again. If you want to figure out the price of the stock after November 15th.. just take their reported cash-on-hand and divide by 4. If they report they still have 16M cash(my guess), then the stock price will drop to 4.
At this point, revenues and subscribers are irrelevant to the price of Funcom stock. Cash Assets mean everything. Investors have fully devalued the AOC franchise down to 0.. the only thing holding the stock at 8 is the uncertainty of how much cash funcom still has.
Sorry OP, the game producer didn't resign because things were going well.
The point is, by most accounts he's the guy most likely responsible for the bad direction taken post launch. The guy taking his place was known to clean up after him before with AO, now they're giving him a chance to try the same with AOC. In of itself that's good news, as for the state of funcom as a whole, that's an entirely different subject .

I completely agree, though I had already subbed long before this news came to light. There's no reason to simply resub just because of this or a PVP patch, neither fixes the issues most people had with the game.

You are delusional. The game director has been replaced but they still have hardly any talent to pull from; it's not like Funcom employees are exactly known for being the best in the industry... most of them have very little experience.
Actually you are completely wrong Funcom has a lot of money still and now has over 320 employees and because of this they have a large pool of resources to draw from and even can pull from The Secret World for brief periods of time to get AoC back to 700,000 subscribers again and once they hit profit and turn the corner the stock will go up from 8 to 20+ very fast which isnt the highest but would mean people will still have made money from its initial offering and considering the state of the world economy that ain't bad!
One punctuation mark and it's an exclamation point at the end of his "sentence". If you're going to try the Zero Punctuation routine at least have something humorous to say.....oh wait you did!! Never mind.
I can understand you wanting to play WAR WAR does not look like a bad game although it depends on the type of gaming style you like if you like combat a bit more fast paced and twitch oriented you really cant beat AoC and not to mention fatalities add a random dynamic not only in terms of visuals but strategy and these are things which maybe WAR has or maybe it does not but the main consideration is what will WAR hold at later levels who knows maybe AoC will look more polished in hindsight.
Ok I fixed the basic punctuation but I'm not touching the grammar. I'm also not even going to :
"Who knows, maybe AoC will look more polished in hindsight."

Thank you for saving me from all that typing you did.
Funcom stock has been taking a strong nosedive since June 16, even before AoC's release (down ~83%). If the economy in general was doing as badly as Funcom stock, you'd be seeing stockbrokers jumping from buildings like it was 1929. The arguement that the stock is only or mostly doing poorly because of the economy is absolutely ridiculous and I can only interpret it as intentionally misleading.
they JUST got rid of Gaute, it'll take a LONG while before the new director can salvage anythting from the mess Gaute left behind. maybe one day......maybe.

One punctuation mark and it's an exclamation point at the end of his "sentence". If you're going to try the Zero Punctuation routine at least have something humorous to say.....oh wait you did!! Never mind.
Ok I fixed the basic punctuation but I'm not touching the grammar. I'm also not even going to :
"Who knows, maybe AoC will look more polished in hindsight."
I can understand you wanting to play WAR. WAR does not look like a bad game although it depends on the type of gaming style you like. If you like combat a bit more fast paced and twitch oriented you really cant beat AoC . Not to mention fatalities add a random dynamic not only in terms of visuals but strategy. These are things which maybe WAR has or maybe it does not but the main consideration is what will WAR hold at later levels. Who knows, maybe AoC will look more polished in hindsight.
they JUST got rid of Gaute, it'll take a LONG while before the new director can salvage anythting from the mess Gaute left behind.
maybe one day......maybe.
