    If memory is an issue, have you tried clearing some of the memory-hogs?  In my previous post I mentioned Advanced Windows Care 2 (free program) but you can also go into the MSCONFIG to see what is running.  The cool thing about AWC 2 is that it tells you exactly what the acronyms mean and what the start-up program does.  I'd take out that garbage before buying new memory (since it's cheaper to do that) but my next option would be do to as you are and buy additional memory.   Memory is a relatively cheap fix considering all the things that could go wrong.  All the best...
