I am getting a lot of sttudering in middle settings, I realy can not go on low because the game looks too ugly.
Now my PC is not the best but I can play LOTR on near max settings and AoC on middle with no problems
AMD64 3500+
3 gig DD@2
Radeon HD 3870
I know my CPU is old but still, compared to other games this has to be the one sttudering the most
Any suggestions on what I could do?

Try turning off grass and dialing your view distance down. That's the only thing that worked for me. Of course, your mileage may vary. The client is very poorly optimized.

The particle effects are what killed my frame-rate. Those and shadows are the two biggest frame-rate killers out there. The client is pretty well optimized from what i've found. I get a solid frame-rate (only get tons of stuttering when there's 200+ people on screen, then it's postcard city).
This game runs like crap when your running through the open world... I have a Q6600, 4gb ram and 512 8800 gts. In AoC I was able to run through zones with graphics on high 0 stuttering, this game I stutter every 5 seconds. For what this game offers graphically, it should never dip below 70 FPS on my system...
You must be doign something wrong then because my system at home isn't any where near the stats of your system and it runs fine (no i dont watch the FPS because its pointless I just want the game to be smooth to my eyes and FPS really proves little). The only time I even get a hint of lag is if there's 40 or moer people in my view distance. AoC can't even handle 20 people...how you can say what you said either means your a troll or hopeful you dont' ahve a virus of some sort.
My system is weaker than yours and I don't stutter at all. AOC was horrible on my machine.
