And the raiting on MMORPG.COM is 6.66 ?

Probably as good a tool for indicating trends as anything else out there, certainly more reliable than using, say, Funcom numbers.

I have to say the servers have been full the last 2 days so im going to agree with the stat means nothing at this point . for the first time in a long time there was more then one instance opened in Kesh.
Why make a new post about this? Isnt it time you moved to war forums and start the hate there now, or have you started already?
Fact: average player of AoC is 29. Users of xfire is MUCH lower. I have a guild of 200 and NONE of them (that i asked or posed on a poll i did) use xfire, two tried it but there was issues with it and aoc so no longer use it.
Im beginning to think people 'get off' on making troll posts. If the aim is to destroy the game then your going to have to do a bit better, but its made these forums completly useless for people who want to try out new games. If your actually over the required age to play AoC i think you need to step back and think about spending your time doing something constructive.
Flame away, i rarely post anymore anyway.

Who exactly are you trying to convince? If it didn't cross your mind, those of us who do play, see the populations first hand. It's not out of the ordinary at all for people to resub during periods like these (major updates). SWG has seen the same random increases for years, just about every update causes them over there. Give it a few weeks and they will drop back down, I'd put money on it.
I find it rather strange you give WAR such a raving review after only a few hours play. In which you greatly exaggerate it's innovations, DYING ARMOR revolutionary? I take it you never played DAOC ? ..anyway.. Here you are back on the offensive against aoc. Quick question, what's the motivation driving you to do so? Hoping to sway a few more subs their way?

Where exactly is the "fact" that 29 years is the median age of an AoC player from? Your skull imitiation seated crystal ball imitation?
If I was to specify an average just from the people I know that play AoC, the median age of an AoC player would be around 15, with 70% of these "customers" - aka littly whiny "mommy mommy, I wanna play this game"-kids - being leetspeaking geeks.
If any MMO has an average of 29 it would be "EvE-Online" which requires too much patience for an ADS-corrupted testosterone-pimple covered teenager.
Sorry, had to post this....

I'm interested in following the population trends personally, I found the thread useful as I like to keep tabs on how the game is doing from several different sources. If you weren't interested in reading the content why exactly did you do just that, and then post in it? Just for an opportunity to flame and insult the OP?
This is just as much news as anything else that goes on with AoC. It is sort of like a review that can't be faked or tampered with. Its like stock price. Funcom can't control either, fanatical zealots can't control either. That makes them both a great and more dependable source for seeing trends then say, fan hearsay or funcom press releases.
Lastly, you say its a fact that the average player of AoC is 29. I would like to see your evidence of this because there is no way that anyone has what would be needed to declare this as fact, in any game, for any reason. It is more likely your opinion.
Waiting for: A skill-based MMO with Freedom and Consequence.

Ironic most of us posting in this thread so far are between the age of 21 & 35...

I dont know about loosing players but in last 2 days ( after the PvP patch ) we had massive PvP battles, well AoC massive is like 80, 90 players kicking the crap out of each other on the same spot aka Kashetta City.
Will post movie as soon as is complete.
As for our guild we see the boost of around 10 members online more then we had before.
Before it was 28 to 35 online in prime time and now is 40 to 55.
We have 90 members + 60 alts. ( all members that put AoC on hold or quit it are removed from guild. / max inactive time is 14 days ... except if they have some issues and post about it in our away forums )
p.s. PvP patch DID NOT fix everything what was wrong with AoC ( itemization, crafting, bugs etc ...) but it did add something meaningful to PvP.

Xfire players are generally more hardcore. I mean they downloaded and installed a chat program just so they can talk to other gamers. That in itself means they aren't your normal player.
Hardcore players are the ones most likely to play a lot and rush to endgame. This means that statistically, they were more likely to be the ones to more quickly discover the problems at endgame and quit. They are also much more likely to have played another MMORPG then the average AOC player, which means problems with the game would go undetected by a first-timer but which an experienced MMORPG jumped all over.
But that probably only covers the first two months. After those first two months where Xfire probably showed a disproportionate drop, it is more likely to be accurate If AOC's stats for this week are half of what they were for last week, that would be a closer representation of the truth than a similar thing happening back in June.
In any event.. AOC is currently behind about 8 MMORPG's that I never even heard of Cabal? Silkroad?
IKShadow.. that is awesome!! thanks for the screenshot.
80-90 in one spot? Pics or it didnt happen

Well - personally I would have expected that a game that was to up to nr 4 in Xfire list at some point would automaticly get up the list when the same ppl that played it before came back online to play. Unless ofc that they uninstalled Xfire.
Its good to hear that 80-100 ppl are taking part in PVP atm. Thats not sign of the servers booming tho. Thats a sign of ppl are all piled up in certain areas ganking each other. Thats maybe fun short term. But.... The long term goal of just killing others is... and should be none.
How about actually making meaningfull goals ? WOW and AOC are taking PVP where the objective of battle is JUST to kill others without no tactical goals whatsoever.
Life is precious. Lets keep it that way.
how about you stop being childish and get on with your life?
go play something.
leave the AOC forums to people that actually play it.
life is precious, be constructive and not a bane to us AOC players.

The current goal is to gain PvP levels ( and get pvp equip) and I think it will be huge grind especially after level 5 . As for meaningful goals thats sieging, Battle Keep is providing you nice bonuses and some other stuff. ( like most of the game all bonuses stats and ability to craft even better equip if you own a BK is not ingame yet but coming soon Funcom TM )
Few more months and I think AoC will be there where it should be at release, so stayed tuned
Dont get me wrong Iam not a fanboi and I would not suggest people to go and buy AoC and wait as updates are "coming soon"... Wait for the updates see how game progress and then decide, few more aka 4 to 6 patches like last one and it could become great. However if such large updates takes so much time as the last one did ( 2, 3 months ) then let say 5 large patches = 1 year, lets hope they will speed up now.
p.s. If you playing AoC now and are unsatisfied -> vote with your wallet do not resubscribe.

AoC (and players) run several polls on the official forums, time and again it shows the average player to be 29. Sorry to disappoint.
[edit] I still have 2 buddy keys available ive been saving, if anyone wants one PM me

You have fun from ganking people on Kesh steps? Jesus the mmo players today seem content with less and less.
O well each to their own. Are sieges still boring? Is the world still a linear path? Is crafting still the worst in any game? Have they fixed the boring PvE dungeons of copy paste trash leading to bugged tank and spank bosses?
Servers are busier mainly due to poeple with active accounts logging back on to check out the latest...sorry only meaningful patch in four months.
End of the day, if your having fun good luck to you. Personlly I want something a tad bit more out of an MMO.

Unless they are indicating an increase in players. In that case its more like, *SEE TOLD YA*, kinda thing from the few remaining fanbois of this game.

Well after the patch game is picking up on fast track ( and patch did not really fix so much its more about PvP XP / levels / items )
This screen shot was made today when we had a siege and to answer a poster above -> sieges are very fun.
( siege were crap before due massive lag spikes, bugs that prevented you to win etc.. )
As for the players, I made screen shot sorted by last time online:
Note: Majority of those with more then 3, 4 days offline are alts ( not all but let say 70%+ )
Those members that did not plan to play AoC were removed and there were quite a lot of them + many joined our WAR devision and put AoC on hold.
The last PvP patch gave new motivation to players and quite many returned ( probably those who already had an active account / payed for 3, 6 months in advance.
3 Hours before we did our Siege there was another 48 vs 48 and still there were lots of players in Mini games and Kashetta PvPing.
I dont know maybe Wildsoul EU server have some luck with population, have no clue how are other servers doing.
p.s. Sieging wise rules are a bit ackward how to Win battle keep .
Futilez[Do You Have What It Takes ?]
So, I fell into fanboy propaganda and activated my account last night. I logged on EU Dagon and EU Fury.
Both were just as bad as always and the PVP update really smells like a piece of poo your dog should've already left behind few days back.
Basically nothing at all has changed. Do not subscripe.
I don't care how shiney and polished you make a turd. Its still gonna smell like shit. Doesnt matter what they do..its still gonna go down in less than a year.
The pvp system is so whacked...How can you really have a good pvp system when its a free 4 all? Make it factioned between 2 sides somehow and I bet you have a better game.

Making it factioned is too much work, that would mean different starting areas, more towns, basically more content. This is the easy way, right funcom? :P

Given that company, its management and its representatives do everything from lie to "creatively" stretching the truth, the people who point out the games inadequacies and history are doing more of a service than a fanboy will ever do.
( the above in no way defends those whos depth of input is limited to "AOC SUX")

Ill beleive it when I see it. Since the game used to have trouble just zoning in and out ( for some people) I highly doubt you could have those numbers and not cause the servers squirrels to explode.

This is the key part with some people here. Old Info. "Used to" yes.. Current No.
