Well ... Baldurs Gate 2, of course.

    Man that would be awesome.

Whole FR to explore ... OMG the possibilities !

Would have to change the rulesystem drastically, though. Original D&D quite honestly is already not that good for singleplayer, but for MMOs it would be completely intolerable.

That's easy - Might and Magic. And no, not the piece of crap "Heroes" of Might and Magic. The real open-world RPG Might and Magic. That would be very hard to top.

mmo based on the steven erikson's The Malazan, book of the fallen series. so many epic characters, both mortal and immortal. so many awesome classes to choose from- for example, sappers, heavy infantry marines, light and heavy cavalry, healers, wizards. and the zones in the mmo- seven cities, quon tali, malaz island, genebackis just to name a few. yes, this is exciting.

An mmo based off the book series "A Song of Ice and Fire" by George RR Martin.

Where people acquire power either through brute force or clever political trickery and all forms of magic would come at a cost. Where backstabbing, swindling, partying and more backstabbing is not only allowed, it's encouraged. Where I can trade my sons and daughters for promises of lands and armies. Could this be MMORPG or MMORTS? Maybe a bit of both?

Basically if EVE Online became a dark medieval world with bits and pieces of fantasy (where it really exists but its more myth than reality to the "common folk"). Live as an assassin for hire, a contracted mercenary, royal advisor, or a noble squire amongst a vast, dark cruel world full of mysteries. That would be epic.

Wizards (couldn't you tell from my profile photo?)

The wars between Blackwolf and Avatar would be awesome. Fantasy/Magic vs. Post-Apoc/Technology -- what could be better than that ;-)

Agreed. Never read a series of books with so much complexity and depth, and with so many superb characters. Actually, I like it too much to be made into an MMO, they'd just screw it up.

    Pokemon MMO (duh)

A Magic The Gathering MMO would be awesome. No, not Magic The Gathering Online, not based on the card game itself. I want to actually be in the world itself.

    Deus Ex MMO

I can't really think of anything else right now.

Malazan?   It's already an RPG.   No big stretch to make it an MMO.

    Ummm....how has no one mentioned...

    TRANSFORMERS

I'd sell my first born child for the chance to be a Decepticon Helicopter....

Ugh...at some point Devs will look outside the box.

I'd like a MMO based in the world Neal Stephenson created for the Baroque Trilogy, pirates, science, court intrigue, massive wars, apocalyptic doom mongers etc. etc.

The books were massive in scope, and would seem near-perfect for a MMO.

    Or is it just me...

So I checked out the series on Amazon and it runs a lot of comparisons alongside Martin's series. I guess what were teh chances of these two sgugestions being offered side by side. I guess if I wuold of known what the series was about, I would of just agreed.

By the way with the first book, is it really that complicated until you get to the second book and would the later books clear things up better? I would hate to have to jump between books or having to take note of everything to make sure I catch something 1-2 books later, feels a little tedious. Sorry reading reviews of the series since I been on the hunt for a new one.

I just have to agree with a few of the choices that have been made here so far, but each has their own set of problems that will need to be overcome to be truely great.

Pokemon: would be great and would make the figthing more fun, but sadly if it ever were to be made I am pretty sure that it will only play on a Nintendo system, and I for one will not be buying one of them anytime soon. I did however buy a DS Lite just to play Pokemon Diamond, but the Wii doesn't interest me.

Avatar: Love movie and the world, but I fear that the game would be far too one sided. I think a vast majority of players would want to be on the side of the Na'vi and not play the humans. This could make pvp and faction based things in a mmo uninspired and dull, because one side would only be fun if they had weapons and gear, while the other is more agile and physically strong.

The Elder Scrolls: Would make a great mmo, and I hope Bethesda is working on it now. I just hope they fix a few things in the game that I am fine with in a single player game, but bug in an mmo. The animations in Fallout 3 are better than they were in Oblivion, but are stilla bit too robotic like for an mmo. Also would need to have more character customization and clothing options. Also would need to try and make the races a bit more different other than mostly just retextured versions with slight differences.

Could you imagine the crafting abilities in this game..........droooolllll......

    ELDER SCROLLS

Great potential here however to trully use that potential you need to add in a bit of 2nd life player created content. One of the greatest things about that game is the amount of player created content so if for a mmo to be as good as the games it would need a way for players to add content to the game. Also you'd ned to fix a few of the exploits (unlimited potion power in morrowind =p).

    TOTAL WAR

Another good game but would need some bugs fixed and would need to be reworked as a turn based system won't work in a mmo.

    DYNASTY WARRIORS

For those who havn't played the series: Imagine taking a few characters from final fantasy and chucking them into the middle of a battlefield from total war series. Now imagine an mmo where you lead an army of minions bodygaurds sub generals to attack an enemy using siege weapons fire traps, mass spells and other fun stuff. Add in a bit more RTS/sim sity elements and you could have a very nice game.

Since a majority of the good one's are taken so far, I'll go with, Maniac Mansion.

    Maybe um, Demon Sword.

  • laokokolaokoko Member UncommonPosts: 2,004

Final fantasy of course.  A turn based game where you controll more than 1 toon.  Which is not what final fantasy online is doing.
