I have played pretty much every MMORPG available (excluding Horizons) and I want to hear your opinions of this. I am trying to decide which game to play again and for me in particular, I hate games where you have to endlessly kill monster after monster for 100 levels before you can start having any real fun. Of course, there must be more to games then fighting, but the trade skills should be somewhat interesting too. Unlike SWG where the most fun of the trade skills is running around finding resources (zzz...).
So, in your opinions, what MMORPG currently out has the least grind and the most activity for a casual player like myself?

unfortunately for you I feel I cannot give you the perfect answer... Every game has it's ups and downs.. Currently I'm at a loss for any good game.. but i've played a ton.
Anarchy ONline was very good for the crafting.. I could spend a week or 2 just on crafting and have a ton of fun w/o leveling once. Leveling isn't that difficult in that game but is required to do more advanced crafting (trade skills)
Final Fantasy XI is a terrible grind, however it does have some fun aspects.... the quests for the beginning of the game require little to no leveling to be able to do. You can fish or work on some crafting aslong as you have the right crystal to do it with... which if you are at low level it shouldn't be too much of a bother since you'll get exp and items while fighting to do your crafts. Now once your at a nice level... like level 17-24 you can start on the Boss monsters... Notorious Monsters! I found myself hunting these guys all the time when i got frustrated w/ the grind. Meet a good group of people who'll help you from time to time and just go to new areas and have fun finding these guys to kill. Treasure hunting too! Not too many people were out doing this when I was playing back in january.. specific areas have a monster that drops a key which is used to open a treasure chest to give you an item.. 1 key - 1 treasure chest per in game day. just something to do while leveling.
Now as for the perfect game for you... there isn't one out yet.
I'm so frustrated w/ mmorpg's at the moment and really want to play something new and exciting but for now i'm just wasting my time on other games like soldat and gunbound to occupy my patience.
have fun finding a game
Well every mmorpg pritty much requires you to kill monsters. Maybe you should try A Tale In the Desert if you havent already.
Shadowbane doesnt have a very big grind but its not a very good game. If you like PvP though you might wanna check it out. Theres quite a bit of other stuff to do in it aswell , you wont find yourself just grinding for X level and X item in it.

It sounds you mite interested in Dungeons & Dragons Online (DDO) - ( info links: DDO Gamespy and DDO Gamspot. release > Q4 2005
Monster will give no EXP and it will be twich based this sacred me at first very much.
The game will focus on twich combat fun.
The enviroment will be more interactive than usualy in MMORPG
e.g. You can set an area into fire and if an monster should catch fire and run down an dark alley where accitendly an unlit torch could be set a light by the passing and so on. Also walls will be climbable for thiefs and if an minotours should charge an wall it get stunned such stuff...
Personally I always see Grind as an failure of the game to entertain in the participated acitivity.

I have been looking for a mmorpg with similar features and qualities. I play SWG, but I agree that there is a lot of travelling and upkeep of harvesters in order to craft. There are many other things to do, however. I always find myself doing something different each time I log in, whether it be working at my cantina, helping my guild defend our HQ, searching for a downed pilot in enemy territory, meeting new people on other planets, decorating my house, exploring the many different environments, or just sitting and talking with friends.
SWG offers so many opportunities for the players to make their own content and fun. On Kettemoor, and especially in my guild, it happens all the time, which always makes for a fun night of playing SWG.
