Looks much better once installed from disc

Is it me or does it look much smoother and polished.  Higher res textures maybe?  It is really looking good in Tier 2.  Much better than people have been giving it credit for.

Yeah and pay close attention.  Try going in before and then installing and checking it out.  Maybe it's just me, but it looks very smooth to me.  I always enjoyed the graphics though so...

It looks far better with the full game install.

Yeah that's what I thought, but I have a bad eye for this kind of thing and didn't want to say it just to get gang flamed here.

Hmm, I went and picked up my physical game last night... but did not install it.  I was afraid I'd need to download those patches all over again.

Also, what did you do with your Beta one?  Uninstall it?

really? interesting, might have to give it a try.

I'll definitely have to try that.  That plus my new rig should really make WAR great.

I just deleted the beta files and installed.  Patch took about 5 minutes max.  It really looks sharp.

I have an explination of this.

In the War folder there is a CACHE folder.

That CACHE folder is the folder that holds Shader information.

When you first launch War and start playing it will be choppy at first cause the game is creating a Shader for every surface it it works differentlt depending on yoru Card, Driver, and Shader Model.

Once all the shaders have loaded it saves the shader information in the CACHE folder so you can load themmuch quicker in the future.

The problem is with the beta.. when you grab the client from someone else.. thier shader information is in there.. , not yours. So it some cases it will look differently than it should.

Also with the beta client the shaders are different and they refine them

The way to get your game to look as best as it can.. make sure you are up to date on patches.. and delete ALL files in that CACHE folder.

Usually after a beta it's a good idea to uninstall all files and do a clean install since some files might be fragmented and so on.

I too have to say that I did remove both beta clients and reinstalled from disk. I did notice the environment looked quite a bit cleaner and overall it was a good experience.

    I recommend reinstalling from disk.

That sounds great! I just broke down and borrowed money to buy the game, since I wouldnt have had enough until mid next week otherwise. I am such a damned fiend! Anyways, I have a quick question, and please answer it swiftly as I am itching to play. Will Warhammer Online charge my credit card at all if I add the info now just for the free month to buy me some time.

It's no illusion. The textures are far far sharper than anything ive seen of the game thus far. Crisp, percise and detailed. I amped up my AA and AF as always and that with whatever they did to textures, is making this game more appealing by the instant..

I sure am glad you made a thread about the improved disc textures. I was so frothing at the mouth to play again that I honestly wouldn't have installed off of the discs if someone hadn't said just what you did. It's a very real change. I mean, the instant I loaded it up I knew you were right. I tweaked a bit of the settings and now my mind is blown completely.. it's not just the aa and af settings doing this, don't the colors seem sharper? The world's gamma seem more crisp, the buildings less dull and filled with every bit of detail you could imagine. The armor is specular and bump mapped on my simple cloth arms, you can see light reflecting off them in the moonlight. No edges to the characters or buildings whatsoever in terms of jaggedness. It is as if high texture resolution is all of a sudden there. I love the detail of this game and now, well now Im going to play it with renewed vigor and enthusiasm tenfold. It just looks so good, I always loved the art direction but now I can truly see how sharp and gorgeous it all is. Well found.

Haha yeah ever since I noticed I have been looking around like... Wait a minute this all of a sudden looks way better.  There is just a comfortable feel to it where before at time it might have felt awkward to look at.  One thing I noticed is the water in certain light looks awesome.

Oh man, not only does it look much smoother but i find the UI reacts a whole lot faster now also.

If the dvd version gives better graphics than a new beta client download+patched up then my frustration will return with a vengeance! I bought the dvd's, tried to install and the bloody thing kept giving errors, simply refusing to install even the first disc. So I was forced to download the beta and patch it up.

Great news!  Patching disks now and can't wait.  I was a little disappointed with the quality of the graphics in OB and this news really puts a sparkle back in my eye.  Thanks for the news, now I just gotta wait for another 34%
