good ol' WiccanCircle. up to his old tricks again.

don't mind him guys, he doesn't like *anything*. every time a new game comes out, he shows up on its forum to "educate" everyone about how bad he thinks the new game is(and basically says the same thing on each forum).  he just moves his cookie-cutter hate from one forum to the next.

Hey, if you're going to troll and bash a game, at least have decent grammar. Not perfect, just legible.

sandox and MMO do not go hand in hand just look at Star wars pre NGE it was good game but most people got bored and left and then were ton of exploits and ton of classes that were pointless. Granted it did find niche audience of 200k but those numbers aren't enough to justify the licensing costs (hence the NGE).

But as much as it pains me to admit to you, I agree with your idea of a game above... to a point.
But we conflict over how that game will ever come about.  Gobbling up the gaming gruel that is served to us - cold, flavorless swill - and kissing the feet of the devs that served it to us isn't going to get us anything better.
Warbummer is 'fun'.. I guess, for what it is - Diablo 3.1, but it isn't a great game and it should be an embarrasment to the devs that sold us this low level game at the end of 2008.
Aside from trying to create stability for larger scale RvR (whcih actually has yet to be seen even in this game) there isn't anything new here.  Lower the graphics slightly and this level of gameplay could have been accomplished by upper end computers on cable modems nearly ten years ago.
Yawn.  I guess I will Waaagh, a little more before my month expires.

A quick reality check.  We consumers shouldn't grab the next piece of slop given to us.  This is correct.  but we can't go around boycotting and hating every game that doesn't meet that "I'm Jesus" quality.  you have to give credit where it is due sometimes and understand that a game may not be godly but it is damn good.

I feel the same way about Guildwars that you feel about WAR.  I just can't get into it.  It feel empty to me.  But I am not going to go around calling the game Guildbore, and posting my unquenchable hate for it on the guildwar boards.  Why?  Because I know the devs poured their heart and soul into the game and made a great experience for players.  I have the game and an expansion installed on my comp right now.  I rarely play it, but it is there.  I supported that company for the work they did, even if I can't get immersed into the game.

If you don't support the companies that do a good job, the MMO market will die and you will never see your dream game.  Good companies, like Clover, will just die out after making masterpieces.

As for the 10 year old technology bit.  The first true PvP MMO was DAOC and that was made 7 years ago at max.  It has half the gameplay features of WAR.  So I don't think that arguement is correct at all.

(I would quote it but somewhere in this forum there is an open code that is taking the right side of my text boxes in to the next dimension)
I think the RvR would be great!  And I will concede that for a game that will have many dozens (I will wait to see if they can actually pull off the 100's that they are hoping for) PvPing the stuffing out of each other will be difficult especially getting it to run smoothly on low end machines and toaster overs like what people are using to play wow and other junk.
I love the idea... but well, can't we have a little depth too?  I feel like Oliver holding up my empty video card asking "Please, Sir, can I have some more?"  My computer is going to mutany if I don't give it something to do while I am playing Warbummer.  I think my G9 mouse has enough computing power to run the depth of this game
    How about...
The Spell System and Loot Items from Asheron's Call
The Teaming mechanics from City of Heroes
The Graphics from Age of Conan
    The Crafting from Anarchy Online
    And the RvR from Warhammer?
    Perfect game?

Folks I think his main purpose of this thread is to keep dropping references to his Pc so we'll ask what he his got. His itching to tell us about his new upgrade of what he thinks is an uber Pc.  Want to go head to head with the big boys? You wouldn't keep up. We upgrade on average every 3 to 6 months to highest of the high in components. You're small fish with your lower end of the high end range components that you upgrade every 2 years.

If someone escapes your ganking attempt and reports you to a guard, the same situation occurs, heck perhaps even if your seen by ANY other players they can report you as well(perhaps you get a list and icons appear over witness' heads,) If you can't clean up the situation then your going
Have options to sneak into towns, and avoid guards.
    Prisons.
War between countries where perhaps a country could be perminantly destroyed off the server.
Guilds building up a city that grows in size and members, and reputation and eventually becomes a force to reckon with for the other real nations, forming alliances that all share a part in the town. Heck even becoming the capital city in perhaps a entire country. Not just "XXXXXXXX's guild city.

This is the pvp i want.
I don't want random ganking while someones mining just because you get your kicks from it. Killing him for his resources, and then having to kill witness'. Miner's for example find a cave(perhaps they spawn randomly under the ground when excavagating. then a guild sends in a team to mine it quickly, while guards are posted in the cave and around the cave."
I'm all up for sandbox's as long as they are truely involved and deep systems to encourage meaningful pvp, discouraging random ganking, and bring in guild vs guild conflicts, and major systems in the game that basically allow the playerbase to affect a server enough that each server of the game vary drastically with how they are after a couple years.

The world you describe has already been created, and it's called EVE Online.

Now, I don't play EVE that much anymore (I miss the fantasy theme and I like having a character vs. a ship) but if people were really into the sandbox, EVE is it. There is nothing you cannot do in that game, and the history of that galaxy is all player made.  Empires have risen and fallen, wars have raged across dozens of star systems, single players have made decisions that rewrote galactic borders.

The only thing you might not like about it is the ganking, but if you fly smart, the chances of getting ganked go WAY down. If you join a corps, the chances of getting ganked go down even more. Still, ganking is reality - it's part of what makes a sandbox, IMO. Real world gankers are called sociopaths and highwaymen and extortionists - but they have to exist for the world to be "real", just as the ways to combat them are "real". You can't really say "ganking should be illegal" as a sandbox fan, again, IMO. And that's how EVE is. The stupid shall be punished, but fly smart and there's no upper limit to what can be accomplished.

That's what I loved about that game. When they bring Ambulation out, I'll likely go back for more.

Anyhow, nobody should come into Warhammer expecting EVE. That's just folly. Warhammer is also a great, great game, but for different reasons than EVE. Open groups, PQs, collaborative PVE/PVP, well-done open field PVP, excellent class balance and mechanics, collision detection and line-of-sight meaning that terrain DOES matter, and excellent set of class skills based around PVP but well balanced for PVE as well, and basically the ability to do anything you want, when you want to, and still have a great time doing it, and you'll ALWAYS level (unless you're crafting). That's what makes WAR great, IMO. It doesn't have to be EVE.

When I want to play EVE, I go play IT. Not Warhammer. I play Warhammer because I love Warhammer.
