You might get frustrated as Freeps (Free Peoples) tend to abuse the chain stunning and rooting, you'll just be standing in one spot for literally one minute while you watch your friends get beat on. Even with potions they can still reaply and slow you, it's not very balanced even as you rank up your monster. A well organized group of monsters can provide a challenge to them and in the begining it did have it's fun times but I would not get this game just for the monster play, it could have stood on it's own as game but they really neglect the monster players. But don't let anyone tell you want to think, you should always try the games so if theres a trial it won't hurt just to get it out of your system.
I have been playing the PvE side of this game for about 6 months and finally got around to trying Monster Play. I created a "creep" character and have been having a lot of fun, so I can't say how long it is till the fun wears out but I am really much enjoying myself as of playing for the past two weeks
Thinking about starting and I am interested in the monster play. Fun or does it get old quick?
You'll be fine as long as you can accept the fact that you will die, and probably a lot at first.
Yes, both sides can stun you and basically kill you quickly if they all pile up on you - it's called strategy. And you being green - litterally, freeps can see your rank, you will be a quick target to kill at first.
You'll notice the same strategy as a creep too - you'll look for the greens or the minstrels and try to drop them quickly. Chances are, you have wargs stealth, pounce, stun, then proceed to have all the creeps go in for the kill.
IMHO it's all pretty balanced and fun. You'll probably see a lot of complaining, and both sides does it. I don't think anyone is overbalanced and even the higher ranked lvl 9s and 10s drop from time to time, so it's not like just because you're starting out you'll always be singled out. Just find a good group, raid, raid leader (which you'll come to know the more you play) and you'll be fine!
Also, Meneldor is the unofficial PvMP server. It's what I play on, and it's usually always busy!
I play monster and freep side and find it quite enjoyable, one thing tho start with a ranged char or you might get frustrated.
I tried pvmp as soon as i could, was still a noob made a warg kept getting pwned because i was a noob so gave up on pvp. Then my hunter got high lvl enough to do pvp and I instantly loved it. Made a ranged uruk and it was even more fun.
Dont try playing a mele char in pvp until your used to the games combat.
I'm not a no life that sits in front of his computer all day long, I'm an intern that sits in front of his computer all day long.
I feel that the monster play is very fun for what Turbine is trying to do. Its pretty casual and although when you first start if your a creep it can seem very unbalanced. If you play a Freep its pretty easy when you first start as you can compete with most creeps you will see. Creeps take alot more time to develop but once you do its really fun as im tired of leveling characters all the time so starting at 50 is nice.
After several months of doing it though just like anything else it can become boring as does anything else. Only complaint I have is the STAR system I feel makes people fight like chickens and ruins some of the fun for me. Thats my opinion though and the last time I played I notice most of the PVP population was classes with " oh shit " get away buttons since people love their stars ( My precious) pun intended.
I would reccomend monster play and considering LOTRO's PVMP is probably the last thing on Turbines list of cares its done very well for an afterthought.

If you dont dont mind a PvP overly filled with crowd control, I think you'll find it very enjoyable.
