Is the beta available for download still? (having tech prob with retail version)

I bought the game today, but I have this really weird install problem where I get this art2.myp error. A bunch of other people have the same problem, and no one really has a solution to it other than the fun things like "take your DVD out, spit on it, and then wipe it with a cloth". Yeah, tried that, and it doesn't work. Other solutions have been to copy all of the files to the desktop and load from there, but the file that's the problem doesn't want to copy over to the desktop, so the copy doesn't go through as well.

I know there is a beta, and this same problem appeared to happen in the beta as well (people were complaining about it back then), but supposedly downloading the beta worked (not sure how people were getting disks of it, but that's really not the point of this question).

So, is there a way to download the beta and then put in my retail key for that? Supposedly, the beta people didn't have to reinstall the game.

And no, I'm not trying to get it for free. I paid the retail price for it today. Just can't install it, and of course, it's Saturday which means their customer service doesn't show up until Monday.

Really sounds to me like you have a bad disk..if your getting an error installing one of the files...THe beta version would not be an imporovement..since that is just an older version of the retail version...

I had almost the same problem, but with sound.myp instead. At first I just downloaded the beta (the european version at least is still on their website) and patched it up, but finally I just tried to install again from the dvd's and just skipped the file that gave the error. After the install I just copied the file in question from the betamap to the new install and it worked fine.

So, yup the beta client is still available if you want to play on a european server, not sure about the american version though.
