Mythic fails to acknowledge CE online order fiasco

Mythic locked players out of the game due to many of us not having received our game boxes in the mail yet.

It's not that mine is on the way or anything either. Gamestop ran out, even though I ordered 2 copies of the Collectors Edition in May, and can't ship my games until they get enough cancellations of other pre orders.

Meanwhile, Mythic is allowing preorders from a few other websites to play but for some reason fails to acknowledge a problem with gamestop orders even though many people are posting on vnboards, warhammeralliance, etc about not receiving shipping confirmation.

Just a FYI for anyone considering whether or not to try a Mythic product. I supported them positively for 6 years of DAOC but this is just a total lack of respect for their own customers and should be noted.

I wonder if its because the under estimated demand, or if there are supply line disruptions?

I also cant wait for the guranteed "i hate mythic" crowd, that will surely arise from minor customer service issues.

Ive been playing mmo's for a long time, ive never has a single issue with any game in any way.  It makes me wonder how so many people can have so many problems or difficulties?

I guess thats the risk you take when you preorder a highly demanded, new game.

more due to the fact that gamestop has never run their business properly, with over accepting orders, theivery, and downright bad business. i ordered 1 game from them and it turned out to be a total fiasco

I would never never EVER order a game on line.

For the life of me I could never figure out why people would do that, and a new release yet too !!!!

What the OP fails to mention, is they did acknowledge the problems with the CE online orders.  In doing so, they extended the grace period for several online retailers

    Mythic - 1

    OP - 0

    ----------------------------------------------------------

So, after a lot of conversations I’m happy to announce that over the next few hours we are going to extend the grace period for all customers of Amazon, GoGamer and the EA Store till the 22nd of September.

I would say calm down a little bit...it's not like the earth gonna explode ( No, that's for the october 21 see : huge gauss canon ). Anyway You Should not order these types of games online...take your legs walk/run/fly ( if u are nathan petrelli) to the nearest EB game buy the game cancel your order and ding you can play...but if you are buying the CE for the little extras sry for my condescending reply.

Yeah, honestly its pretty common to hear about GameStop stores being shady, but really its more of individual luck.

The gamestop near me seems pretty good, but if they trick me out of my Lich King CE, then I'll be one PO'ed SOB, cause they aint robbin me, they robbin my family (Im gonna give much of the stuff in the CE to my sisters, they love the chibi frost wyrm and the other stuff so its goin to be an early present for them)

And if they do that, I'll make sure to spread the bad word about them

    Oh they acknowledged it.

    From Mark

    Folks,

Good, bad or ugly, Mythic has always had the integrity to stand up for what we think is the right thing to do in any situation. I don’t expect everyone to agree but I’ve never intentionally made a decision to hurt the community and/or our players and I don’t intend to start now. For the last couple of days we’ve been dealing with a very difficult and complicated situation. Sadly, there are lots of moving parts and sometimes it takes both a bit of elbow grease to get things working properly.

Here’s where we stand right now. As of this morning, we deactivated a large number of accounts and ended the Head Start for our game. At the same time, we’ve been in touch with the retailers, both online and brick-and-mortar, and while we are getting great data on the number of people who will get their game today; there is still a relatively small number of people who won’t be able to get them due to shipping issues (no matter what the issues are, whose fault, etc.).

So, after a lot of conversations I’m happy to announce that over the next few hours we are going to extend the grace period for all customers of Amazon, GoGamer and the EA Store till the 22nd of September. Based on the data we have gathered, these companies account for just about all the customers that were concerned about their chance to get into the game today. Thus, if you currently have an account with us, you’ll be able to get back into the game while you wait for your game to be delivered. Of course, all characters are still intact and no billing of any credit card has taken place (it couldn’t, the account still has free time on it) since the accounts were simply deactivated not wiped.

We have been assured by all the brick-and-mortar retailers that they got their shipments in the stores already so if you needed to go to a store to pick up your game, the units are in stock everywhere. We will be monitoring the situation closely over the next twenty-four hours of course.

As I’ve said countless times, we will do the best we can in any situation to make it right and I hope you agree with have done so again. I thank the community for its support, especially for this rather thorny problem.

Seems like a Gamestop issue rather than Mythic.

Although Mythic should have extended the grace period for everyone, not just Amazon, GoGamer and the EA Store customers.

After everything I've ready here I would never deal with Gamestop.

Also i should add, it wouldnt kill you to wait untill the just launched problems subside.  Hell if you even waited a month after release to buy warhammer you might get a special deal, aside from walking out of the store witha copy in hand ready to play.

Really never understood the awesomeness of being the first one, or the first group of people, to hit endgame.  I guess i dont get the race to the end type of gamer.  These are the gamers who flip out and have a tantrum when they cant logon exactly when launch starts and start racing to the endgame.

I ordered on Amazon a few months back and received the CE on the 18th.

This can't be possible, there were only 60,000 CE's available. Mythic didn't sell this guy his 2 CE's, Gamestop did. If they over sold or some staff decided they fancied a CE for themselves it's not down the the developer or the publisher it's the retailer's fault.

Actually Warhammer is somewhat flawed in it's design and it is actually important to get in at the start while there are a lot of people around and leveling to get maximum enjoyment. It's not about racing to the end game.

Some time down the line when the starting areas are void of people it's going to be impossible to complete Public Quests.

On a Core Server it'll be alright for alts, because a guidie or whatever can skip down to Tier 1 and help them out. This can't happen on an Open Server though, just as I've been saying all along.

Yeah, it's much more of a gamestop problem than a mythic.

Mythic just makes the game, gamestop sells them. The only thing you can buy on the mythic website is gaming related apparel.

Gamestop has been notorious for screwing with gamers.

Well, seeing as how Mythic has acknowledged and accomodated those who ordered online from elsewhere, I see no reason why they would deliberately shun those who ordered from GameStop.

Perhaps it's that Gamestop gave them inaccurate info and Mythic, not knowing what the reality was with GS, figured things were okay. Perhaps they can't do anything about it since it's the weekend. Perhaps they're in the middle of putting the pieces together as we speak.

To say it's a "total lack of respect for their customers" seems a bit quick on the trigger, and a bit of an over-reaction. They *have* acknowledged the issue (even if not specifically for GameStop), it's not like they're pretending one doesn't exist.  A full update was posted by Mark Jacobs yesterday on the Warhammer Herald describing what happened and what they're doing about it.

Give them a chance to sort it out and I'm sure they'll find a way to get it settled for those who still haven't gotten their copies.

  • Ya its gamestops fault.

I preorderd the CE with Amazon and had no problems at all.

On the back of my CE box it says 517474 or 66000.  So if you dont have your CE box your not going to be gething one.  Their is a limited supplie of them and once their gone their gone.  I would recommend just not doing business with with gamestop ever.

i made a thread awhile back about gamestop trying to screw me from my CE and they did.. i did get 2 copys of CE from bestbuy and tried to cancle my pre-order from gamestop.. which i payed in full a few weeks before launch. they would not refund my money. they gave me an instore credit. so pretty much gamestop will NEVER have my business again.

Also i went thru all the managers at gamestop, even the new dood that said he would get my copy no matter what. There was only 4 CE's sold in the Gamestop that i went too. and i bought the first 2. shows you how easy you can get screwed from them.

  • RahzphenRahzphen Member Posts: 44

Yep, i ordered my CE from amazon the other day.  It's en route, and it should be on my doorstop come monday evening.

They still have them for sale if anyone's interested. :P

It was Mythic and EA's fault, and they acknowledged it. Originally there was going to be a grace period until the 22nd, they moved it up to the 18th, citing concerns from some of their retailers worrying that the "free" time the players got in grace period would hurt their sales. Then they tried to change things again, but the final change could only accomodate the customers from Amazon, GoGamer and  EAStore.
