yep guild wars seems to be the game that truly represents the monk class. (bald, kung fu inspired gear, skill sets etc.)
lol, i just love the bald part.
but its kinda a shame tht there arent tht many hand to hand compact classes in games. if there were, they would probably be one of my fav classes.
this is why i wish they made a game tht has all classes
Fiesta Online by Outspark has the Cleric class. They can heal, they can buff, but they're the most solo-able class in-game. So many people play them, and those who don't always complain about them being over powered lol. But i'm like you. If you find another game (besides Ragnarok Online) with a Monk class (using maces or knuckles or something for weapons) i'd like to know too :P

Trying to balance that type of game would be harder than you could ever imagine. Games with 8 or so classes cant even do it
mmm idk how hard its is, but i rly dont care how long it will take. i just wish there was one.
my suggestion is probably for companies join together and make 1 game. i know and im sure its a stupid idea since they r suppose to be competing but it would definatly be one of the top mmos in the world.
Anarchy Online has a class which uses hand to hand combat. It isn't called a monk however. Plus... with Age of Conan bombing many gamers are on the outs with Funcom. And AO is pretty outdated (both in terms of graphics and gameplay) by most standards. So that probably doesn't help you.
I'm sure there are a TON of asian MMOs with "Monk" classes but they probably all involve hundreds of hours of grinding plus spending a fortune in real world money on in-game items. So that probably doesn't help you either.
There is Matrix Online, I'm sure that has hand to hand combat. But I hear its terrible and its also made by SEGA of all people... So I would steer clear of that hornets nest.
There are so many games with a monk or healing/damagedealing character in it . In Guild Wars there is a monk character which is pretty fun to play. In Holic Online you can also play the monk character; a buffing class that attacks with knuckles.
And I guess the monk class in WoW would be the paladin or the thes shaman( can anyone confirm this?).

maybe some of the "asian style" mmos, esp. the ones that are martial arts orientated, such as 9Dragons.

ffX1 has a monk class that deals with hand to hand instead of healing

vanguard has a monk class: you use fist weapons or daggers (not sure what else)
i liked my monk
it is a P2P game that has really really really good graphics. (my computer can run it on ultra high ^^)
its a very fun game. mounts at level 10(very cheap and easy to reach level 10), can get boats eventually, and you can build houses in some spots.
Istaria has a monk class. i would not recommend to play it but there it is.
